So Today i started on the medication, so at present there is nothing to report, so i am writing my history with acne first.

At the moment i am 19, when i was 14 i went to the doctor about ear ache and he said that he could improve m skin, at the time i didn’t think it was bad, but anyway he gave me Zineryt 30 ml solution (a topical solution to apply to the affected area), and that worked a charm, i was on that until i was 19, it didn’t really bother me to use it, just rub it on at night and i was fine.

But after summer of 2007 it suddenly got very bad. The spots are mainly on my cheeks, and my forehead, my cheeks are often very red and tender to touch, my skin on my back and chest is pretty clear though, that seemed to fix itself a few years ago. At first i thought it was my hair as i have medium length hair that often touches my face, but after cutting it short it still hadn’t fixed it. I went to the doctor and he gave me oxytetracycline, but all that seemed to do was make my skin greasy, so i was on that until a few days ago, today being the 27th May 2008, and still to no avail it has not got better, i have to admit the redness has gone down but the unfortunately the greasiness more the compensates for that.

So now i start on roaccutane. My parents are very concerned about the side affects as am i, but hopefully everything will go well.

There is something i would like to know, does anyone know any good moisturizers, i want to be prepared for the dryness skin.

Hey Will,

I too (like most ppl) was really concerned re: side effects but when you actually go on them you kind of just take it in your stride. If the side effect get a bit much you can lower the dose, most ppl experience dry lips, skin etc and acy joints seem to be the most common.

Simple rich moisturier has got a good rep to prevent any dryness, i use dermalogica intensive repair which is amazing. You will need a face wash that is for dry / sensitive skin too, neutrogina has a good one.

good luck & keep us updated
