Hi everyone, I have found this site is great and everyone is great at helping each other out. I am due to start taking Roaccutine in 1 weeks time, however after reading all your posts I would like to prepare for the dry skin and lips. So please if anyone has any recommendation as to what Skin moisturisers to use and what lip balm to use that is really effective I would really appreciate hearing. Many thanks. Lisa
What skin moisturizers and lip balms should I use on Roaccutane?

Hi,
I was the same as you - now in week 5 but bought masses before starting!
I would REALLY recommend Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream for moisture on lips, but get the 50ml tube, not the lipsalve, it lasts much longer and although expensive is worth every single penny. I have also been using it on the dryest patches of my face before bed and on dry patches that have come up on my wrists. You can use it ANYWHERE and is fab. You can get it anywhere that has make up counters or ebay.
For washing I recommend Eucerin - doesn’t smell fabulous but doesn’t dry. You can get it in boots/pharmacies.
Good luck!

Thanks Jess, I’ve read on here that a few use Elizabeth Arden, think I will have to invest in some. What Foundation would you advise to use?
Thanks

Hi Lisa, I’ve been using Revlon colorstay foundation for dry/normal skin, which has been fine.
Like the others, I too would recommend E.A. 8 hour cream for lips and any dry patches on face/body. And also coconut oil for use on lips and skin!
Also I’ve found moisturisers from Lush are great, particularly a hand cream called Helping Hands which I’ve used on dry patches anywhere. X

Finally, right towards the end of my course, I found the solution to my dry lips! I had tried: Cymex, Blistex, Vaseline, EA 8 hour cream, Chapstick, Neosporin, Neutrogena…but my lips were still terrible, especially right at the edges so there was no clear line between my lips and the rest of my face, just sore bits. Horrible. Putting really gloopy lip gloss from a tube on helped a bit, but I finally cracked it with putting Eumobase (not a lip balm, but a cream for eczema) on them, following by the aforementioned gloopy lip gloss. This finally sorted them out and if anyone is despairing about the state of their lips I would recommend it.

hi there, this is my first post on here but i have been reading it for the last few weeks.
i am just starting week 5 of my course, and up till now the side effects have not been too unbearable. i have been on 35mg a day for four weeks and they upped it to 70mg last fri. the first day i took this much i had the worst headache i have had in yrs and felt so ill, so i have only taken 50mg for the last couple of days to try and let my body adjust to the increase and will up to 70 mg this week again. my derm gave me dermol cream to wash and moisturise on my first visit but havent really used it. i got the artificial eye drops from boots which are ok. i have been using vaseline and the best ones i have found are blisteze and nivea lip balm for dry lips and cocoa butter moisturiser for skin and hands, and smells gorg.. top tip, put baby oil in a warm bath with no bubbles and soak in it and then just dab yourself dry afterwards your skin will feel great as it locks in the moisture and will look better for a couple of days.
am not looking forward to the increase in the effect of the dryness since increasing my dose but i have suffered for 12 yrs with bad skin so will try anything and put up with it for the 4 months if it will give me better skin if not perfect!
strange thing though, the roaccutane seems to be making me break out along my jawline and all over my neck, back and front which is not really where i used to have a lot of problem before.

Hi ya, this is my first post on this site.
Just taken Roaccutine for my the first time today. Like Kelly The Headache is unbearable. But I keep thinking of clear skin. Iv read all the leaflets they have given me but I am still unsure of Make-up removing etc. Do I use soap or a cream based remover? Has anyone any tips. My skin is already beginning to Itch, Is this normal?
Im freacking out now. They put me on 25g. Do your spots get worse before they get better, I asked them at the hospital but didnt get a response.
Any help would be good. Thanks..
