Posted in Roaccutane Diaries

Hi everyone,

I’ve been on 60mg of roaccutane for 2 weeks now, just coming to the end of the second.  I’ve been reading the diaries on here religiously and decided I’d start posting to help others in the same position!

Week 1:

I’ve had all manner of side-effects already!

  • Very dry and peely skin
  • slight dizziness/lack of concentration
  • upper back pain
  • feeling a little sick after eating
  • severe stinging when taking off make-up with moisturiser
  • strange sensation on my lips, dry sort of but mostly fragile feeling
  • pink look to my skin
  • BAD BREAKOUT!

It’s only been a week!! goodness know what will happen in the next few weeks haha.

I keep getting new spots, every day, lots of lumps and bumps coming out to play…and I’m just starting back at uni which is great fun - I want to hide!

My backs pretty bad at the moment, and my head, MY HEAD! I must be going insane, if i didnt have blonde hair, it might look like the worlds worst case of dandruff! Head and shoulders on the shopping list i think.

Finally, the temptation to scratch is unbearable, what will happen if i do?!

Week 2:

My skin has got much worse - didnt think this was possible…but all my blackheads seem to be competing against each other in a “who can get the biggest in the shortest time” contest. M skin also feels very rough. As well as this i have mount vesuvius and friends on my chin and round my lips (never had spots there before?!)

I currently also have a cold which is great as it means my nose is getting extra dry! I think i may become a hermit…

On the up-side, my back is looking a lot better and i guess I’m having the dreaded breakout which hopefully means my skin can start getting better after all these spots have gone.

I’ve used the head and shoulders for the past few days as well as putting conditioner all the way through my hair instead of just the tips…this seems to be making it a lot better - no scratching my way into the early mornings but still a bit flakey.

Weirdly, my lips appear to be getting bigger…i think this is because the skin around them is peeling and looks a little red…I’m sure I read someone else on here seeing the same thing?

Putting make-up on has also become even more of a chore than it already was, I think I re-did it 3 times in one day this week! I have found Boots No7 uplifting day cream does wonders for flakey skin though and doesn’t sting, so I’ll continue to use that.

See you in week 3/16!

Hey Neen,
Like me (70mg), you were started on quite a high dose. Thus will experience the sider effects sooner! I’ve just finished week 9, and side effects are slowly settling down a bit now. My skin is also the best its EVER been. So you’ve hopefully got this to look forward to! :D

Good Luck & Best Wishes.
