hello again!

not much to report this week, i have noticed that my skin is getting a lot more sensitive when i wash & dry my face. no spots at the mo’ i have ones that have been and that are healing. there is one rather painful one that is in my ear (sorry, but this a warts and all account!) which i think burst in the night.
I have this rash thing on my hand - only the right one -it started off red and now it has become dry and crusty, moisturising doesnt seem to do alot so i suppose it will just go on its own. Need to drink more water too i have been faultering on the water intake.

Called my derm secretary today as i was a bit concerned they didnt take my bloods when i saw him last week as my derm seems to think that i don’t really need to have them done as long as everything was okay before hand. he said he would have written if there was anything that was out of turn - now, my derm is great but coming from a man that i have to remind each time i see him the dosage i am on, when i last saw him,how long i have been on them, what day it is, is a little concerning so i called to make sure and she reitterated what he said - all my levels are well within the normal limit so i dont need to have them done. The only grievence i have is that: Dont they levels raise when im ON the medication & that whay they monitor it? i expected to have normal results back when i wasnt on the medication but what about when im well into my treatment?

apart from the above concern everything has been okay

hope everyone is doing well

xx

Hi,
I’ve had a rash only on my right hand too. Are you right-handed? I ask because I wonder if it’s because that hand is exposed to more, seeing as I use it more often.

As for the monitoring… that’s what I thought too. However, looking at the blood test sheets my derm has given me in advance (he hasn’t requested that I see him again), all that they check is that I’m not pregnant :os

yes i am right handed, maybe i should put sun protection on the backs of my hands then..i was under the impression that bloods were a must on Roacc, as long as your results are okay maybe they dont? i would still like to have them done tho to be on the safe side.

good news everyone! I had cocktails last night and my liver is still intact! :D I took 20mg the night before (im on 60mg) and missed the dose last night, had a bit of a hot flush at one point but i was fine! did seem to get a lil more tipsy than i would normally.x

Hi Becky,
I got the hand rash too, but it has nearly gone now apart from at the sides (had it for about a week). I got it on both hands but more on my right hand (I am right-handed too). Same pattern as yours - at first red bumps which turn into dry, rough bumps.

As for the blood tests, I have to have them every month even though my results are still in the normal range. My derm is quite strict on all that, but I live in France so maybe they are stricter here. I was on Dianette before taking Roaccutane but I had to switch before starting Roacc. One of the requirements was that you have been on the pill for 1 month before starting treatment. Dianette is not recognised officially as a contraceptive here (since it was designed primarily to deal with skin conditions) so I had to take another pill for a month before starting. All that to show how strict my derm is. That bit annoyed me, but I’m glad I have the blood tests each month as it is reassuring to see all is OK.

Hey well i got the hand rash too and i told my derm and he told me it was exchma. This soon dissappeared from my hand and moved up my arms and i got some on my legs, also just recently i got some on my stomach. Use Aqueous cream for it and it calms it down.
Just the other day i got a spot behind my ear which ive never had before. I finished Roac yesterday so side effects should clear up soon :)
Hope i helped x

p.s. in the six months i only had 2 blood tests and one before i went on them
