Hi,

Had my second visit to my derm on Friday. It was a different doctor to the one I had seen initially but she seemed just as good. While on holiday i developed what i thought was really bad eczema turns out it was that combined with rosacea, it was a really bad rash (looked a little like hives) that was over the back of one hand and all up the underside of my arms and big patches at the top. Really unsightly and I think caused by the roac the doc gave me some steriod cream which seems to have had a really good effect!

Other than dry lips and really bad dry skin while I was away, things have settled down and seem to be okay…. Although my doc this time said to moisturise everywhere except my face. I’ve only been using light moisturisers that are oil free and even so she said I should only use oil free gel moisturisers. Has anyone else been told not to moisturise their face? I understand that it blocks the pores but if I don’t my face peels really badly!

Hope everyone is doing well.

Hi Sally

Before I started roacc treatment my derm told me not to use facial moisturiser. He said any additional moisture put into the skin provides ideal conditions for bacteria to grow. So I stopped and he was right- my skin cleared up considerably at the time almost straight away. But he also said that during roacc treatment I’d need good lip care and a decent moisturiser. If I were you I’d use one when my skin was dry- apart from anything it starts to hurt!! And flaky dry skin blocks pores, which we all know causes spots so best to avoid that i think.

Maybe get a night cream so you’re only wearing it when your face is super clean and unaffected by other factors like makeup and pollution etc.

Hope that helps and the roacc is working for you!
