I have been on Roaccutane for 4 weeks now. I am on a low dose of 20mg, still yet to go back to the dermatologist - my appointment is not for another 2 weeks. I will assume that he will increase the dose.
In the 1st week my flare up’s started and is isolated to one part of my face - on my left cheek and jawline, i have read that flare ups only last 7-10days. I must be unlucky… mine are still very visable and red, even though they are no longer raised or have a dry scab i have been left with a patch of about 10 red scars that will not seem to heal or fade as yet.
It is very depressing and even the best of conceler does not seem to hide it all that well.
I know i am in my early days but so far have only had flare ups and no sign of improvement.
Apart from that i have not had dry skin or dry/cracked lips, although even before starting Roaccutane, i washed and moisturised my face twice a day and i live on chapsticks, this has probably prevented any further symptoms.
I am having more headaches, which is a pain as panadol is not doing the trick to get rid of them. I have a headache daily.
Does anyone have any tips on how to improve the redness of my scars or what once were my breakouts? Or is it just a waiting game and they will eventually fade?
I did hear from somewhere that on roaccutane the body takes longer to heal in the way of nips, cuts, grazes - but 4 weeks?? to me i thought i would have seen some sort of improvement.
Any advice would be great
Kelly
