Apologies for this late update but here goes..
I had an appointment with my skin clinic on Thursday who has now increased my dosage to the maximum I will be on for my treatment. I am now a proud owner of 60mg per day!! I really don’t think the side effects of the new dosage will be anywhere near my system yet but I have notices that my face is so dry..which as someone else has mentioned on here that its more like sun burnt skin that peels instead of just dry. I am religiously washing and piling on the aqueous cream all day when I get the chance.

Luckily enough my team at work are very considerate with me being on the treatment and we all find it very funny when I go through my mid morning sweating and the large amount of lube products on my desk! Hahahah

I think a lot of people forget and get dragged into the mind set that this is awful and its easy to get carried away with feeling rubbish..but on the other hand, its not permanent. It’s a small part of your life that you will be taking this treatment and the end result will way out any of these weeks of feeling like death.  So take it from me…its humour all the way, if you can’t take the p*ss out of yourself then god help!

Chin up Ladies and Gents,
Catch you soon,

Claire

Hey Claire,im so glad you agree,i feel exactly the same as you,and although this site is great for people to say how they feel, the moaning is getting a tad annoying. I mean, perhaps they are all having a far worse time than us,but honestly im really not really noticing that i am on the treatment, dry lips and skin, not that bad. So yeah its good were ok,im on the 60Mg,and yeah no side effects for me.
I think you decided every change that happens to you is down to the drugs, but a sore leg or headache would happen anyway and there is no point keep going on about how arwfuk things are, becasue that always makes evrything so much worse.
Any ill stop now, hope you ok.
Dan.

Hey Claire (and Daniel),

With all due respect i had exactly the same attitude when i was on week 4. It’s very difficult when you’ve have a couple of weeks of clear skin and then you come out in loads of painful, embarrassing spots, combined with painful, peeling lips and headaches. It’s also difficult when your moods are up and down and at times you feel incredibly low. All of these came after the first few weeks for me.

We’re all here because acne has got us so down and so to a point of desperation that Roaccutane was the last chance - therefore when you have low days it’s really difficult not to feel down.

I know this is the first place i come when i’m down, and i’ve had the odd moan on here because all of you lot understand exactly how i’m feeling! I feel i’ve had the best support from the people on here and it’s all about genuine experiences. If we all went on about how great the process has been for us i’m not sure it would be the realistic, helpful site that it is.

Cheers guys,

Nina.

Everyone reacts differently to this drug so people will have different experiences and side effects. If you havent experienced any side effects good for you but other people will and i dont think they moan, they are just writing about thier honest experience - its what this site is for…:)

Hi Nina & Becky,
I also feel that you really need to be honest & if that is classed as moaning we must be all guilty of it.I find this site excellent and dont really feel people moan they are just updating us on there experiences.Becky as you have said everyone reacts to Roacc in different ways.Sometimes you just need to get thing off your chest or have a question that people on this site will be able to answer.
Hope all your guys are keeping good

Hey Becky,

Yeah, as bad as i must sound, i take comfort in knowing that it doesn’t always run smoothly for everyone else!

If everyone on here banged on about how great Roaccutane is i would have figured it just wasn’t for me and given in ages ago…

Hope it’s going well for you too :)

Dan,

I think you’re being more than a little insensitive with some of the things you’ve written. One of the best things about this site is that people can use it as an anonymous outlet for their feelings when they are going through a particularly tough time. A lot of people who write aren’t looking for a response, they just want to get something off their chest. If people have some constructive advice to give, great but the last thing anyone needs in this of all places is to be told to stop moaning. While it’s great that you can have a positive mental attitude that’s not true for all people. I think the least you can do is to let other people help themselves by allowing them to moan to their hearts content - there are at least some people here willing to offer advice so you can leave that to them. Don’t take it too personally, these are just general observations of mine.

Hey Claire. On your post you said about your skin peeling. I am about to start a course of Roaccutane in about 2 weeks. The skin on my face is rredder than anywhere else on my body and i was wondering if the Roaccutance will just make me look like a lobster or will it make the redness fade into my normal skin tone.

Many thanks :-)
Hope all goes well for you
