Posted in Roaccutane Diaries

Hey all

So this will be my last post for 4 weeks as i am soon to go on holiday. Realy worried about the whole roaccutane/sun mix however i  have had some sound advise from both the derm and loads of folk on the site so i feel im all set. I have really sallow skin and have never once burnt on holiday even times when i have been foolish enough to avoid wearing sunscreen.

This time however, i am dedicated to wearing factor 50 all over, I am told that as my skin is so sensitive factor 50 is needed to protect however will also allow some tanning without the risk of damage. The derm advised to drink plenty of water and stay away from sun bathing directly next to the pool (which is reflective and strengthens the suns exposure to your skin)…..im actually quite gutted about that one but im prepared.

So skin update, and every day i wake with an improvement however, literally 2 hours after my last weeks blog i was hurrying out of my flat and i decided to quickly apply some moisturiser…the first one to hand was clinique step three gel moisturiser for normal skin, this is what i used frequently pre roaccutane. Immedietly my skin felt very burny and when i arrived at work to look in the mirror i was disgusted to discover large red blothches all over my face, the next day these red blothes turned into very red peely dry patches, within the next few days they dissappeared (peeled off basically) AND…believe it or not revealed was much clearer softer almost new skin.

Guess this shows how sensitive your skin is on roaccutane, moisturisers full of crazy chemicals and preservatives like parafin wax and petroleum are a BIG NO NO! - I knew this though and cant believe i was so stupid. Lesson learned!

Just want to revert back to the product I was telling you all about back in week 2, it is sold on ebay and the seller is called forever young, it is basically a cream aimed at very dry skin and only contains natural products with no preservatives. The women basically makes up large batches and then sells them all very quickly online, there is such a high demand for her products as they really are the most innocent of face creams I have came across. The one i use is called skin repair cream. It is also excellent for cracked lips and only around £3 for a 30ml tub.

Here is the link again…..

So had my derm visit today and instead of increasing my dose to 70mg they are only increasing it to 60mg. This is because my skin has made great progress over the past 4 weeks and the intensity of my side effects like peely skin and sore kness…which by the way are manageable because to compensate for my side effects my skin is clearing at an impressive rate.

So I have come to the end of my week 4 blog and like my other weeks i remain positive about my course. I am sometimes scared to put across how confident I am about my roaccutane experience as i fear i may be tempting fate!! It can be pretty nasty at times but with a good routine and a commitment to clear skin it is a breeze, i just think of the bad skin days pre roaccutane where there really wasnt any light at the end of the tunnel…just oily skin and low self esteem.

Keep smiling everyone, hopefully when i blog in 4 weeks after my holiday my upbeat words of wisdom will remain in tact. :)

Oh and P.S My nose is still killing me…..vaseline and cotton buds are now a handbag must…how attractive eh?

Take it easy
