Posted in Roaccutane Diaries

The breakout has calmed down thank God but I seem to have a huge number of blackheads on my face at the moment. I hope roaccutane does something about these as they really get me down…and I must really try to resist the urge to squeeze them as my skin would probably look a lot better without all the scabs I keep creating! Tiredness / headaches: gone! No muscle pain either even though I use quite heavy weights in the gym. Good! Dryness is being kept under control with eucerin and an oil-free moisturiser from nivea. Also using sunsense oil-free factor 50 when I’m in the sun, and oilatum for my scalp a couple of times a week. Lips aren’t looking too good. Tempted to buy Elizabeth Arden’s 8-hour cream but is a bit pricey. I remember kamillosan from my breast-feeding days - may get some of that instead. Any other recommendations to combat dry lips?

Hi nancy
Ive been using neutrogena 6 hour protection lip balm which i apply every hour…and I havent had a problem with dry lips at all only when I forgot to put it in the corners of my mouth and as an added bonus it seems to plump my lips up!! There’s also johnsons mooncare intensive balm which is an overnight lip mask….I bought them both at the same time and they are identical..in fact i read the back of the identical shaped tubes and they are made by the same people in the same place …they even smell the same. Anyway they cost about £2.50 and last about a month…I tried vaseline but i found it was useless at night and was really greasy and seemed to clog up around the edges of my lips…those little lip stick things didnt work for me at all. Anyway good luck.x

Thanks, Mandy, will definitely give those two a go. I did in fact buy the Elizabeth Arden lip balm last week but it’s going down really quickly and I need a cheaper replacement! Hope all’s well with you x

Hi Nancy,

I can totally empathise with you regarding the blackheads. I. Have. Loads.! All over my nose, my forehead, my chin. It’s not pretty. I squeezed a fair few on my nose, and now have a reeally scabby nose.. how attractive! Apparently they do go around 4-5 weeks, so hang in there!

I’m in week 4 day now too, so am in a similar position to you.

Hi Andy! Really appreciate your comments - good to know I’m not alone in this. Seeing derm this afternoon so will get the chance to talk about the dreaded b-heads. How are yours? Take care x
