So my first month is finally over! My face has been breaking out loads over the past week, and they are drying up and going all scabby which is a bit digusting! Side effects not too bad last week, the headaches have subsided. I’ve had a couple, but nothing like as bad as the first 3 weeks. I was really achy on one day, so bad that I felt like I had the flu, but that was the only time that I ached enough to take painkillers. My scalp is scabbing, but I’m using Neutrogena T/Gel medicated shampoo which is helping. Lips are very dry, but are managable using Blistex, Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream. I have also started using the infamous Avent nipple cream! Yep, it works really well!
I had my second appointment with my derm this afternoon, all ok, she asked if I had been depressed, had any mood swings, and asked about the side effects i’ve had so far. She didn’t really mention the appearance of my skin, didn’t say if it had got worse or better etc. Just that if I was happy to continue, then she was. She then doubled my dose to 60mgs (as I weigh 65 kgs). She also said that I will be on a 4 month course in total, and that as i was on half dose for the first month, that my course can be extended by an extra 2 weeks if more time is required at the end of the course.
My eye sight is still a bit fuzzy (even more so than normal! I’m short sighted anyway) so I asked my derm and she said it was nothing to worry about and to keep using eye drops to stop my eyes drying out too much. I’ve got an eye test on Sat, as I need to change my glasses and get contacts for work anyway, and my derm said to make sure I tell them I’m on Roacc and ensure they complete a full eye ‘health check’ by doing all the tests etc.
I’m a bit nervous about the side effects getting much worse now I have doubled to 60mgs, especially my lips. I’m still wearing full make up when at work, and so when I keep putting cream etc on my lips,it can make a big red ring all around my mouth, very attractive! lol
Hope you’re all doing well, Jen x x
