Hi

Am now on  week 2 of taking Roaccutane.  I’m on 60mg a day which isn’t too bad (originally I was going to be on the full dosage of 80mg a day) so there’s still time to increase my dosage if required.  If you’re thinking about taking it, please think carefully about it.

Unfortunately this is not my first time on Roaccutane…it’s my 3rd! About 1% of people who take Roaccutane have a slight resistance to it (i’m in this 1% I think) but for most people, one course will do the trick for a life time so please do not feel disheartened if you’re reading this.

Totally remembered about the side effects but forgot how bad they could be. My lips started to get dry after about 3 days on Roaccutane so my tub of vaseline was never far from my reach.  Remembered at the weekend that vaseline is P A N T S!! The best thing to use in my opinion is Nivea…its fab!

Was still using my ‘matifying’ moisturiser until the weekend.  Have had to stop using it as my face stung! So it’s now onto E45 which I’m using on my body as well.  My skin has started ‘tearing’ on my hands which is something new so I’ve got a tub of hand moisturiser with me at all times.

With regards to excerise. I know the advice is to stop or reduce the amount of excersise but as i’m slightly over weight and needing to lose some I’ve not. Have to say that I’m not experiencing any more pain than I normally do so I’m not too concerned there.

Ok, this is probably really bad but the last two times I was on roaccutane I didn’t stop drinking…I cut down a little but I was at uni and was enjoying my social life and my blood tests were always ok.  However, this time, I’m now in a full time job and have stopped drinking alcohol (ok, I may have had the odd occasional glass of wine but seriously, it’s only been about 4 glasses in total).  At least I’ll drop a few pounds :)!

I’ve also had the dreaded break out!  I get the really horrible and sore spots that stay under the skin and never come to a whitehead but I know this is temp and they will eventually clear up.

However, I’ll keep you all updated and will post a picture soon.

Jade xx
