I went today to see the dermatologist and she told me she was stopping it because I had had ‘16 weeks’. I was a bit flabbergasted as I am not at my cumulative dose - (another 6 weeks or so for that.) My liver enzymes were bad and I have loads of rashes and feel tired and very achey, ( although I didn’t mention that!)

I have taken roac. before and after a month of breakouts it was improvements all the way, but this time I just continued to have breakouts, inc last week. The deep down lumps on my chin are also still there.

So, I will take my remaining ’stash’ at 20mg over the next ten days to stretch it out and see the derm’ again in 2 months to reassess things. I am not too upset at the minute because the side effects have really started to wear me out, but if it turns out I have become immune to roac and that this is ‘as good as it gets’ for me now, I will be disappointed. Hopefully I will still see an improvement over the next month…

hey eider,

I’m sorry to hear this, but I understand when you say the side effects are wearing you out. It’s been 3 weeks now since I stopped, and although i’m not happy with my skin, its a little better and I feel so much more like me again! I was tired, depressed and stroppy: 3 weeks on I feel much better mentally!

I think a small break will do you good, and don’t think it is possible to become immune to Roacc so I wouldn’t worry too much. Perhaps even the break may encourage the deep down spots to surface with the declining influence of roacc.

Good Luck! Andy x

Hi Eider sorry to hear they are stopping, but as you say perhaps you need to take a break sounds if your body needs a rest. I think that is fairly common with some derms, do a course then stop for 2 months then do another course I know a few people who’ve been treated like this. Least you’ll be able to enjoy a glass of bubbly @ xmas!
