Week 13 and struggling

Hi everyone!

Well I thought I was getting to the end of my course but when I saw the dermotoligist last week he decided instead of just 4 more weeks I should have another 8!!!  This is because I’d had 2 new spots and also cos he said I’d only had 30mg for the first month.  I’ve been on 60 mg from week 5 onwards.  He said that would ensure I’d had the full course.  If I’d known that I wish I’d been on 60mg from the start. I was really upset cos the roacc is starting to get to me but I don’t want to finish earlier than the derm thinks I should.

I can put up with the dry lips and sore joints but what is really getting me down is my eyes.  They’ve been dry since the beginning but my eye drops were working fine until week 11 when the corner of my right eye became very red and sore and slightly bloodshot.  The doctor gave me new drops but these new ones are so greasy I can’t wear eye-makeup cos it just slides off.  I feel very self conscious without eye-make up!  Has anyone else had a similiar experience?  I really don’t want red bloodshot eyes for the next 7 weeks! Will they get better as soon as I’m off roacc? I would appreciate any advice.

Hi Lorraine
I reckon you should take the full course to reduce chances of an ‘acne relapse’. I found that stopping/reducing dose for a week gave me a chance to get over rashes on my arms which were itching like crazy. That may give your eyes a break. When I restarted after a week the rashes didn’t come back.
good luck

as far as i know your eyes will go back to normal pretty soon after stopping roac. i certainly hope so. i’ve been having really dry, itchy, bloodshot eyes too and can’t bear sunlight. i look like a proper try-hard, swanning around in shades even when it’s raining! ; )
