Can’t believe I’ve been on Roac for 3 months now! It’s amazing how fast it’s flown :)

Went to see the derm today. I think she’s a bit rubbish to be honest. She never even looks at my skin properly, all she does is ask me how it’s going and jots some stuff down in my file. Then she goes “you’ve just got to keep at it” or “stick it out” etc and I never really get any proper feedback from her. She said I’ll probably be on it for another couple of months as I started my treatment on a low dose of 20mg for the first 2 weeks.

So I’m hoping when I go back at 16 weeks, she’ll only prescribe me one more month on the shizzle! Woooh! We can only hope.

I’m desperately hoping to see a drastic change in my skin over the month. I only have about 5/6 active spots but my cheeks are covered in red marks/scarring which seem to be taking weeks to go away. This time last month when I washed my face it didn’t even feel like it was my face that I’m washing because there were THAT many spots. It’s much better now but I still look a bit dodge without makeup =/

In terms of the emotional side of things, the past 10 days is probably the best I’ve been feeling in about a month. I think it was a mixture of seeing no improvement in my face (the spots were getting worse not better), stress from uni work, and the fact that roac kind of coddles with your brain which sent me off the rails ever so slightly…But this past week I’ve felt great.

Ooh, I also went into a health shop because I have felt EXHAUSTED over the past three weeks. I basically reeled off a list of the symptoms that I was suffering and she suggested I take a mixture of vitamin B complex and Siberian Ginseng. I’ve been taking it religiously and I’m not sure if me feeling better is a coincidence but we shall have to see!

I’d love to hear from anyone else is round about the 3 month mark by the way! Xx

Hi Alison, perhaps we have the same dermatologist! Mine hasn’t ‘examined’ or barely looked at me from day 1. We have a little routine where I get the pregnancy test on a Friday and see her on a Monday and she says ‘ Are you pregnant?’ I say no, and she says ‘The tests confirm that you are not pregnant. ‘ I’m surprised I haven’t been asked to swear on the bible.

I am on month 3 and very tired and achey and ratty (but I just tell her I am fine, or as she says ‘tolerating the dose’, because I just want to get it over with. It is taking weeks for some of the deep spots/blockages to come-out, and I am getting through a lot of moisturiser and still peeling.

One thing though is that my ‘new skin’ is looking younger than 41! I suppose it is a drug induced chemical peel, so there’s a plus!

Finished two months today! its absolutely flown by.

Went to see the derm at 9 this morning, and don’t worry, my derm doesn’t seem to do a great deal either. He asked ‘how does your skin feel?’ and ‘how’s the mood?’, before swiftly writing out my next prescription! down to the pharmacy i went…..

He’s put me on for another two months, so to think i won’t finish until next year sounds drastic, but i’m sure that too will soon be upon me! christmas and new year on roac though, grrrr…..

Glad you’re feeling better! just keep poppin those pills and it’ll soon be over!

Hey Alison! Mmm… Im on month 3 2day and saw my derm about 2 weeks ago. He too didn’t seem to do or say much, I was expecting more than I got and Im gald to hear from everyone else that’s the way the cookie crumbles. My skin is dry & peeling and I’ve 2 very different tones on my forehead. I was asked on a date on Sunday but made up excuses because I don’t feel so good. But I can see it working, that’s the upside.

The problem is for the first month or two I absolutely glowed, no spots, etc. Now I seem to get spots almost daily and I am hating the late minor break out. Although my friends and family keep reminding me what I looked like BEFORE Tane & I just have to confess that no matter the down days, it is a wonder drug. Even on days when I feel like cursing it out, I know it is miraculous still.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a major improvement by mid-Dec as my friend has a wedding then in which Im playing bridesmaid, and from there til Jan. it’s endless weddings to attend. I’m hopeful though.

Gud luck ya’ll… :-)

I think the derms must see so many people every day who are on Roac they don’t even bother to check everyone over…I guess that they know as professionals the real improvement is right at the end of your course x
