Ok so….iv been on Roaccutane for a mere 5 days and the side effects are very much showing. My second day on the treatment my skin felt like it was burning and the area where my spots are on full display has been pretty red ever since.

Iv been told this is normal and the redness will eventually die down….I hope so! Today (day 5) my lips are starting to crack and im applying lip balm moisturisers like there is no tomorrow. Skin is definitely drying around my eyebrows and underneath my nose so its just a case of applying a good moisturiser. I actually bought two moisturisers from forever young on eBay its all organic products. I have been using The skin repair cream which  is also very useful for cracked lips. Iv been using that first thing in the morning, all over my face and lips and using the Intensive Hydration Complex cream at night.

This is the link for the cream, you can actually email the woman who makes the cream to discuss whether it would be suitable for your skin, this is what i did and in all honesty i can tell/feel its going to be a great way of keeping my skin moisturised.

One bizarre thing that im noticing about being on Roaccutane is how clean your skin feels in the morning, instead of feeling oily, it feels like its just been washed with soap. Also, am I just imagining this or is Roaccutane making my hair less oily? It seems to be clean all the time!

Anywhoo…To be continued.

Take it easy

Hey Clarabell,

Don’t fret..the redness will die down a little. I started to experience side effects on day 3..lips first then dry skin! I use blistex on my lips, eucerin on my face (only on the really dry bits as my derm told me to try not to moisturise as it contraindicates the roaccutane). Im guessing you are on q a high dose as you have the side effects quite soon. Im on 70mg a day.

Good Luck & stay positive xx

Im actually not, im only on 40mg just now and will be going up to 60mg in a week or so. Was very surprised to get side effects quickly but to be honest they have calmed quite a lot with only my eye lids and my cracked lips being an issue albeit a minor one.
Thanks for the well wishes hope your course is going well!

Take care
