Vikki’s Roaccutane Diary - Week 3

So it’s been three weeks and although I didn’t think I had anything to report, after reading a few of the entries on here, I realise that all these funny little symptoms i’m experienced must have been related to the treatment! I have got this dry skin/rash up my forearms which I had just assumed was some type of washing up allergy (if only!) and lots of little dry patches have been appearing on my hands and arms. Now I think about it properly, I would assume that the hot flushes and rosy cheeks are also related - phew!I have been feeling pretty good to be honest. My skin (spotwise) has been great - I have two “cysts” - one on my cheek of all places and one on my chin that have been there since before the treatment that won’t seem to budge (I have got quite used to them now!) but apart from that any little spots that do appear, seem to dry out and vanish really quickly! I can’t help thinking there must be worse to come….

I had a bit of a wobbly moment last weekend while out for dinner - felt like crying about the smallest things like being given the wrong wine and had to go home early as I just wanted to be at home. I am usually a very sociable person and love to go out but just couldn’t face it. I can only assume it was because of the treatment and it was the first time I had any alcohol since starting the tablets.

My forehead and lips are permanently dry and am still seeking the ultimate “lipsalve” as although Blistex healing seems to be preventing further cracking at the moment, I do have to apply it roughly every half an hour. Has anyone got any recommendations? I hear Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream is worth the price? I was on a training course last week and one of the delegates started telling me about someone he knew who got addicted to lip balm….. he seemed genuinely worried about my potential addiction!

Anyway, I think that is all I have to report at the moment but will be back when I have more to say!

Hey - would recommend Eliz Arden 8 hour cream, but get the tube, not the lipstick style - that doesn’t last so long. The tube will last you months, the lipstick has lastest me ten days at the rate we have to use it!

I’m the same stage as you - end of week three. the whole of my chin, jaw and lower cheeks are red raw with spots still - nice!

Desperate for some improvement, but holding out - I know it might not be til the end of the course if I’m really unlucky!

Good luck, keep it up!

Thanks Jess - I really appreciate your advice and will definately go with the 8 hour cream tube.

I hope you start getting results really soon.

Take care,
