This cannot be normal?!

Why is my skin getting worse?? I’ve nearly finished week 12 and I seem to be getting loads of new larger bumps and lumps underneath my skin in different places. Even the quality of the skin is getting worse.  there have always been small white bumps underneath the skin on my chin and they seem to be becoming more prominent which means more make-up and more time spent fussing over my skin…I thought I’d gotten past that stage.

My dermo also point blank lied to me for the second time and told me my skin would remain perfect from the last time I saw him. grrrr

I thought there was supposed to be some week 12 turnaround where everyone started getting better!!

Sorry for my rant, I’m just getting worried that this will become yet another thing that just doesn’t work for me…

Any words of encouragement are most welcome. I’m on 60mgs a day btw and have been since the start.

xx

Hi Neen I can understand how you must be feeling, like its all been a waste. sounds like your acne is strong and viscious and the way I see it is its trying to fight against the roaccutane, but dont let it win, remember the longer you stay on roaccutane the better it works so I would stay head strong and dont let its nasty existence get you down!!!
Ive been trying to eat better and excercising more and drinking plenty since Ive been on roaccutane to help it along and flush all the bad toxins out of my body

i’m hearing you, neen! i’m on week 18ish and the bumps are still there. started noticing them getting more prominent round about week 12 too. so disappointing and frustrating. i’m due to finish roac next month and terrified these things will rear their heads then.

i know these aren’t exactly the encouraging words you wanted but at least you know you’re not the only one. if and when mine shift, i’ll be sure to let you know though.

Thanks guys, I think I’m just panicking a bit because I’m supposed to be finishing my course in 4 weeks and my derm isn’t great so I don’t trust he’ll continue it if I want to.

i think I’ll buy one of those very large bottles of water and try and re-fill and drink it every day. Glad to hear I am not alone!

Hi Neen, I think the kind of ‘under the skin’ spots which must be a deep blockage, take ages to come out of hiding. Mine have gone from only me knowing they are there, on my chin, to noticeable, red, lumps for the last 8 weeks (out of 15).
I think, to be blunt, if you have a blackhead you can see near the surface in an open pore, you can squeeze it out but you can’t do anything about these invisible blockages. Either they have to slowly come to the surface, or as your skin peels you get down to their level, don’t know which. I have started treating them to some left-over differin gel as well. But they are at least changing so I am confident it will work.

Hey Eider, It’s annoying how suddenly these spots you didnt even know you had come out suddenly isn’t it?! Mine are appearing on my cheeks mostly and I’ve never really had any problems anywhere but my T-Zone before. So frustrating! I was expecting to be in the clear now at week 12/16 and just waiting for the end…but it looks like it’s far from over :( Good luck with the rest of your course x
