So. 6 weeks gone and had my derm check up today.

Big news is, my dose is staying the same. He’s keeping it at 30mg daily. He said the Roaccutane’s starting to work, so he doesn’t see the point in increasing the dose to increase my side effects. He also said he’s never heard of anyone being permanently hungry on Roacc lol. He’s pleased with the start anyway. My bloods were ok, cholesterol slightly raised but nothing to worry about.

So……

Skin – My back and sholders are still mostly clear. A few spots on my lower back have appeared, but nothing major. My face has started to breakout, but my derm did say that it will come and go and he’s not worried. Neither am I after reading everyones diaries on here. Got fantastic blackheads appearing on my chest, hopefully they’ll dry up and drop out like the ones on my nose did. Sonme eczema patches, but again, nothing I can’t cope with. Still moisturing like a nut job. Lips are still dry. Now own half the Carmex company.

Mood – Still upto my neck in reality, so that’s fine. Lol. Seriously, no problems.

Joints – Nothing bad, started taking cod liver oil on Derm’s ok, Every little helps eh?

Sleep – I remain a resident of Insomnia City. Getting used to it now. Not tired or weary at all.

Other stuff…. – Nose bleeds. Had 3 yesterday. A mate took a photo of me having one. (Nice eh??? lol, no ‘here you go, here’s a tissue.’…) I look bloody awful (sorry for the pun!) They just seem to start when you least expect them, and they’re like a tap’s been turned on. Hunger. Jeez, as I’ve mentioned, still starving all the time. It’s the worst side effect for me. I can’t get away from it at all. Derm did say I can take my protein shakes and supplements I normally take for gym work, hopefully that’ll help me.

So there you go. Got my little brown bag of drugs and an appointment for 8 weeks with bloods to be done in 4 weeks.

Over and out.

Stunty.

So… 5 weeks down.

Skin – My back and shoulders are clear. Amazing. First time in I don’t know how long I don’t take a shirt off and look at the blood splodges on the back of it. Got some mad big old zits on my face though. I’ll try and upload a piccie later, if my camera doesnt break taking it! Nose is clear and the pores are almost invisible.Still no spots behind the ears and in my hairline. My skin is dry, but the daily moisturising is working. Lips are really really dry. Carmex is not really working. Might try Palmers Cocoa Butter lip salve for a change. Got some eczema patches on my ears and arms, but nothing I can’t handle. My other half says even the scarring is improving.

Mood – Still good. No depresion or loss of touch with reality. (Though I wish I wasn’t in touch with reality sometimes!!)

Joints – Had a couple of achy days but again nothing I can’t deal with. I just changed my running days to when I could manage a jog.

Sleep – I wish! Not tired or weary. Bloody mad insomnia continues. Still, could be worse.

Other stuff….. Nose bleeds have stopped and I’m still threatening to eat everything in my flat. I’m so hungry. Does Roaccutnae have a steroid in it???? I’ll ask the derm next week. Hair washing has reduced to once every 7-8 days! Bloody hell I’m saving a fortune on shampoo!

So, derm appointment next Tuesday, we’ll see what he has to say about increasing the dose or not, it depends on him I guess!

Hope everyone is coping ok

Stunty.

xx

Mood is still good and upbeat. Still got really bad insomnia and I’m still starving all the damn time. Still, the flats clean and tidy and my clothes and uniforms are all ironed due to the extra hours I now get in the day!

Skin wise. I dunno. It’s up and down. The spots come and go (see last weeks grump over the big zit on my top lip. Thanks again for the advice Tiff!) the ecsema (sp?) comes and goes. I now have a shiney nose. My backs still spotty. I’ve got a lovely smattering of blackheads all over my chest and nose just waiting to fall out. Gross horrible things.

Daily nose bleeds continue every morning. Hair is still really dry, I only need to wash it once every 7 days at the minute, which is a really nice side effect.

Not really had any achy joints yet, thank God, I couldnt give up running and my jobs really active.

Got my derm appointment in 2 weeks, hopefully my bloods will be ok and he’ll bump up my doseage.

So, week 3 has ended.

Lets see. Mood is good (still).

Lips are so dry it’s scary. Burt’s Beeswax has stopped working, Carmex is now the lip salve of choice and that’s not really working to be honest. Dry eyes come and go, but nothing serious. I’ve now got patches of ecsema behind my ears and in my scalp. Spots, big evil nasty things pop up and then seem to dry out within 2 days. It’s mad. Still having breakouts, but my skins not any worse and seems a little better to be honest. My hairs really dry. Only need to wash it every 5 days. My hairdreser noticed with a screech of “WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO IT?????” And my scalp is so itchy. I came out with some scalp treatment stuff to help the itching, it’s Keratase

Still getting nosebleeds.

Not really got any dry skin anywhere other than my ears and scalp, but I have been moisturising like a nutter. Got given some Liz Earle ‘Light’ moisturiser which is really nice for the face. No aches and pains yet, hopefully going to stay that way. I’ve manged to keep my exercise regime going.

The thing that’s killing me is the insomnia and the hunger. I’m hungry all the damned time. I can cope with the insomnia, it’s handy cause I get all the housework done lol, but the hunger…. grrrrr!!!!

Bloods done by a vicious woman with a needle this morning. I’m going to have a massive bruise, I wouldn’t mind but I’ve got massive veins. The blood donation people hit them evry time, this woman used the needle like a bloody radar, under the skin it went and then she was sweeping it around looking for a vein…… Derm appointment in 3 weeks. When do people get their dose upped? Cause I’ve been managing ok on the 30mg daily, so I’m wondering if he’ll increase it?

Stunty

Wow, where did 2 weeks go?

Well, no dodgy mood swings, although one of my mates reckons that the side effect of “not being in touch with reality” would be an added bonus. lol. I’m not tired and sleeping all the time, in fact, I’ve gone the other way. I’ve got really bad insomnia and quite a lot of energy. Don’t know if this ois because I’m usually an active person anyway, I walk around outside plenty for my job. No achy joints yet. And blimey, am I hungry all the time!!!!! I’m constantly starving and having to stop myself from grazing……

My lips are permanently dry. Thank God for Burt’s Beeswax! Skin’s not too dry, but I’ve been applying Vaseline Cocoa Butter Deep Conditioner lotion every day. (God it smells nice!) My eyes are dry off and on, got some drops for that, and my hair has really really started drying out. I wear a hat for work and more often than not I’d have to wash my hair twice a day to keep it clean. I’ve gone to washing it every other day. Bought some Dove shampoo and conditioner for dry hair. Hopefully it’ll help. I’ve got the hairdresers this week, and I’m wondering if she’ll notice.

Spot-wise my skin had cleared up until yesterday. Now, I’ve got big ’spreader’ spots (IYKWIM) and acne has started to break out on my cheeks and jaw. I’ve got really bad spots in my scalp and my back and shoulders have really started to break out. God, it’s bloody painful on my shoulders. Still, behind my ears are still spot free for the first time in 10 years, so that’s good.

Started to get nose bleeds now. Had a mad one at 4.30 this morning. It actually woke me up not long after I’d managed to get to sleep!

Blood check in 1 week, I’ve started Benecol to help with the cholesterol, although mine’s normally low anyway, every little helps I guess. Derm appointment in 4 weeks.

So. Week 1 over with.

Things I’ve noticed…… some side effects kicked in on day 4. Dry lips and nose and a rash over my chest.

Ive noticed now at the end of the week that for 1st time in about 10 years I have no spots behind my ears. A place I’ve always really suffered with bad painful spots. Sadly, it looks like my pores are starting to kick muck out… I can actually see pores on my chest with blackheads in them. Didn’t have that last week!

My face isn’t too bad, just a few more spots than normal, but my scalp is starting to get really bad acne and my back and shoulders are starting to break out. I’m assuming this is the dreaded IB. Anyways, here’s to another week, and hopefully no other side effects.

Stunty.

P.S Hair appears to be drying out. Usually a hair wash a day kinda person, but haven’t needed to wash it today. No aches or pains either thank God.
