Hi guys :)

Well i havn’t written to you in ages so i decided i’d give you an update on how my skin is now after being off the drugs :)

I had my 3 month anniversary, if you like, of being off roaccutane on Thursday and i went for my blood test :) It was very strange going back to the hospital, thinking about how much i had changed each time i visited there, but it was a happy occasion thinking about how great my skin is now.

Since i came off roaccutane i havn’t really had one spot and my skin is completely clear. Although my skin has become a tad greasy again, it’s nothing i can’t deal with. I decided to ask my derm about it though because i was a little concerned and she basically prescribed me Differin to dry my T zone out a bit. All i can say is God that cream works so much better than it did before roaccutane! i think it’s because my skin is now more sensitive to harsh products, its a good thing to be honest because the creams etc work so much better. yays :)

It’s quite shocking how much having clear skin has changed my life, i’m a much wiser person now and can see what it is like for both sides of the appearance spectrum. I can now realise why beautiful people can be so up themselves because they receive so much attention which tends to be from guys just because they have a plesant appearance. However although my shell has changed and i now am treated like one of those popular people who everyone loves, i will never change my attitude about people being treated equally and being level headed. Having been there myself, i don’t believe i could ever judge someone on how they look simply because i know how it feels to be invisible and how horrible it is to be judged about something you can’t control. I feel so strongly about it, i even did my GSCE English oral exam on it (A-A*), we were told do something that has affected you previously or a subject you are incredibly passionate about. Well what ever i said must have made an impact because i had spoken and my audience were shocked to how “deep” i am. lol

But yes anyway :) i hope my story has helped everyone struggling with acne, and i will keep you updated if there is any change to the quality of my skin :)

Good luck everyone :) It seriously is worth it, i know i’ve said it a million gazillion times but i honestly can’t say it enough. Thats how awesome you feel after this treatment :)

Completely and utterly life changing. :D

Hi Tess
Great attitude to have if only more people were like you. Glad your treatment has worked out well and you are free of the stuff. I’ve been reading your older entries to match up with my own treatment and gives me hope. Goodluck for the future.

I know I would have had a different life if I hadn’t been tortured with acne. Not that I might have ended up much different but the lack of self confidence at a young age, the sense of worthlessness leave deep scars. I love to hear such positive outcomes.

Hey Tess,
Good to hear your’re still happy and experiencing great skin after 3 months ^_^

I was just wondering if you could tell me what dose you were on? Thanks

Yo… The effective dosage of Roaccutane is 1mg/kg, ie, if u weigh 60kg, u should be getting 60mg.

But having said that, most dermatologists will start off half the dosage initially for u to adjust to the side effects.

And depending on the severity of the condition and progress, some may just stick to a dosage lower than the effective dose.

I have moderate acne and weighs 70kg. I was on 20mg and it worked perfect on me and still is…

Cheers
