Hi all - hope you are all coping well being on roaccutane…it’ll all be worth it in the end! :)

I have been thinking about getting a tattoo for a while now - i found a small, cute flower design that i would like to have on my wrist. I was just wondering whether anyone has had a tattoo whilst on roaccutane? I know it makes your skin sensitive so I am cautious as to whether to get one yet or not. I’m torn as to whether to get one now or wait until I’ve finished the course (which will be end of september time, fingers and toes crossed!)

Any advice would be much appreciated :)

hiya natalie,
sounds like a pretty tattoo (i have a flower on my foot) but i reckon it’d be safer to wait til your roac course is finished. my derm said wounds can heal slower on it and i had terrible blisters the other week (new sandals and walking round town = bad move!) and they did seem to take ages to heal compared to usual. you don’t want the scabby stage of the tat to take any longer than necessary, less time to be tempted to scrach/pick!

Hey Natalie,

I had my tattoo done whilst I was on Roaccutance, although I had literally just started my course so the side effects where only just starting. It was absolutely fine though and healed as normal although I would suggest if you are quite far into your course t maybe hold off until your done as your skin is so dry it will take longer to heal.
