Hi again, well my son is into his second week of Roaccutane (day 11 to be precise!).

As you know he is on 60mg a day and has been prescribed Duac and Retin A gels. After a week of his face looking extremely red and sore thankfully this has has now gone. His dermetologist told him to stop using the gels and to re-introduce the Retin A in a couple of weeks. Once he stopped taking the gels the reddness and soreness subsided.

His skin is dry, but to be honest nothing terrible, he does have dry and sore lips. This week a few more spots have appeared but not what I would call a terrible ‘outbreak’. He has no aching limbs but can have moody spells (don’t all teenagers go through this?!?!?). No other side effects.

As my son was concerned with the few more stops appearing we decided to re-intrdouce the Duac gel and at the moment no red skin - if it comes back we will stop using the Duac altogether.

I have to say that now we are in Week 2 (and even with the slight ‘outbreak’) this really is a wonder drug! I can see his skin has 100% improved, particularly on his forehead where it was bad.

Thanks to everyone who have commented - it really is greatly appreciated!

Will write again next week, and until then good luck to everyone.

i am also using Retin A gel. i forgot to ask my doctor if should keep using it whilst on roaccutane and i guess he forgot to tell me too. ow wells…but my skin is still red as it was prior to using roaccutane.

im only on my 5th day but i have already noticed slight dryness around my chin area, and the rest of my face is still oily but not that bad as it used to be before the treatment started
