Recently we have received a few emails asking: should I go on Accutane/Roaccutane for my acne?
Before deciding on whether to go on Accutane you need to be aware of the side effects. Accutane can have severe side effects in pregnant women, including birth defects and fetal death. It should also be noted that taking Accutane might cause depression.
Recently the U.S department of Health and Human Services released a new webpage warning of the dangers, buying Accutane online.
Ask your dermatologist about Accutane, he or she will have the final say in whether you will be prescribed Accutane. Most doctors will only prescribe Accutane for severe forms of acne (cystic acne) or if other treatments have failed. Many people see Accutane as a last resort after trying topical treatments such as benzoyl peroxide and antibiotics.
If you decide to go on Accutane you need to be prepared for a minimum of three months treatment. This may seem a long time, but it could be small price to pay for clear skin.
In this blog post we haven’t mention the huge positives of Accutane – many people take Accutane once and never have to worry about acne again.
Today Jenny commented in our Accutane/Roaccutane possible side effects blog post describing the success she has had with Roaccutane – she has finished her treatment and Accutane is still working.
Weigh up the pros and cons, do you own research and make an informed decision.
