I realise it’s been a while since my last entry but I have recently changed jobs and so everything has been up in the air. But im back on track now and with only 1 month to go, im pretty excited.
I have had really bad arms recently, with eczema type rashes which burn and itch like crazy. I seem to be reacting to everything at the moment which isnt good. However, this does tend to come and go so i dont think its anything to worry about.
I have been really aching for the last month and when i get up from my desk and walk upstairs, i have to stop mid way because my legs feel like stone. This would normally be ok but i’m doing the 5k race for life next weekend and I really want to complete it in a good time!
As for my face, my lips have been really bad and bleeding…but this is normally ok with lashings of carmex. My face has been clear for a while and the nurse suggested that i talk to the doctor about laser treatment at my next appointment to see what they can do. I just have to stay spot free for 6 months after my treatment….so fingers crossed!!
I hope you are all doing well.
Keep smiling

Jo

Hi Jo,

Im doing the race for Life this weekend as well - where are you running? I did a race a couple of weeks ago and was worried about the aches but actually I found that the adrenalin got me through and I did it faster than last year, though I was sore for a while afterwards!

Good luck and have fun! Let us know how you get on!

Hi Hannah,

i’m running at Mote Park in Kent. I’m hoping the same happens and the adrenalin kicks in because the last time i tried to run, i managed about a mile and had to walk home….boooo the tablets!
Still, cant complain, I have 1 month left and the nurse on tuesday couldnt stop looking at my face…which i am taking as a good sign!
Where are you running?

I hope it goes well, good luck

Im running at Heaton Park in Manchester. Its quite a hilly location - last year I remeber feeling like I had run upwards but never downwards!

Thats great about your skin - im in week five and am pleased with the results so far. My other half was laughing at me last night because I had got a single spot despite the fact that there was a time when I would have been over the moon to be able to just count the number of spots on two hands!

Have a great time at the run and if you end up having to stop and walk just remember its the tablets and next year you will be faster! :)

Hi Siobhan,

I was also under the impression that it wasnt available under the NHS and was fully prepared to pay the price. However, when i went to my first consultation with my doctor, he said that its a hazy subject and it tends to be situation specific…..for example, they wouldnt support you if you were doing it for cosmetic reasons but if it is affecting you in other ways (emotionally, psychologically), then they might look into it.
Its worth asking, they can only say no hey?

Also, on one of my monthly appointments, the nurse said that on my last appointment (6 months), i should mention laser treatment because there is a dermotology laser unit at the hospital.

I dont know if the rules are different but my scars are predominantly not a result of acne so i dont know if that makes a difference to the ‘laser’ rules….

I suggest that on your next appointment, you ask the nurse/doctor about it and see what they say.

Hope you’re ok
