A change in vision/eyes is one less common side effect from Accutane - around 10-15% of Accutane users will experience a change in their vision. In rare cases this can include colour vision disturbances (color blindness).

Your night vision may be affected by Accutane – if this happens tell you doctor immediately, so he/she can monitor your vision. The changes can happen quite suddenly, so always be cautious when driving or operating machinery at night. Your night vision should return to normal after Accutane treatment.

How do I know if I have changes in my vision?

Your eyes will became very dry, itchy and turn slightly red.

Simple tips:

  • Artificial tears drop – available at you local supermarket, pharmacy and you can get them on prescription.
  • Eye ointment – you should be able to buy these at your local pharmacy, alternatively you can get them on prescription.
  • Get more sleep – simple but effective, if you have sore eyes they need time to recover.
  • Drink plenty of water.

If you wear contact lenses, they may become uncomfortable. Please Note – avoid using artificial eye drops with contact lenses unless otherwise stated and do not use an eye ointment while wearing contact lenses.
