I haven’t been on here for ages…but just in case anyone was reading I would update to how things are about 4 months after finishing Roaccutane.
I was on it in total for about 5 months, and I was very scared at coming off, for the last month or two my skin had been perfect (if a bit dry) and I was convinced that as soon as I came off it would go back to being awful again…..well it hasn’t.
My skin is perfect, yes that’s right flawless…actually that’s not quite true, I suffer with Rosacea as well as acne and my nose and cheeks are still slightly red, but this is very easily covered with make-up. But no spots at all, not a blemish. God I really hope writing this won’t jinx that!
I found being on Roaccutane ok, it didn’t effect my mood at all, ever, I felt totally normal the whole time I was on it, I did suffer with dry lips, my eyes were quite sore and often a bit red (got asked a lot at work if I was ok!) and my hair was very dry, never ever got greasy.
It was scary making the decision to take the plunge and sign the form agreeing to the treatment, it was such a big unknow as to how my body would react but my skin was controling my life so much (I cold barely look people in the eye I was so ashamed of how I looked) that the risks of the drugs were worth it, even though I never really believed it would work for me, nothing else had.
So now it’s all over, I hope more than anything that my skin stays the way it is now, it has truely changed my life. I think if you are reading this considering taking the drug then make yourself aware of all of the possible side effects it is important to go into this journey informed. But if you were to ask me if I would do the same, or take Roaccutane (Isotretinoin) again?……….In a heartbeat.

Hi, I’ve been on isotretinoin for 5 months and really happy with the result. My skin is a thousand times better a year ago. Today, I went to the hospital for the last time but it was another doctor. this derm doesn’t know anything about my history, doesn’t even know what skinoren is ( I asked for it by the way). To cut the long story short, he gave me another prescription for a month which i refused (I’ll be a 1000 mg above the recommended cumulative dose). I was kicking myself on my way home for being so fussy. I kept thinking what if it comes back..

Roaccutane changed my life. Whatever the side effects were, and there were a few, they were nothing to the years of torment I had endured up until that point.
I took roaccutane at the age of 25 – I am now 33 and my acne never returned. For me it was effectively a cure – I say never returned, I do get the occasional pimple here and there, but no more than anyone else.
