Week 6
Started the week feeling miserable thanks to my rushed dermatologist appointment. However after doing hours of tearful research I found a page called “What to expect when taking accutane”.

Very straight foward stuff that in fact reassured me that I was probably just expecting too much too soon. I felt heaps better and funnily enough seemed to start clearing up.

Week 7
Started on a positive note, only seemed to have one persistant spot, not huge, just annoying. I got a couple more in the week that disappeared really quickly. My skin seemed drier too. Then today I have been feeling low.

My nose is still disgustingly greasy and I caught a glimpse of my reflection at someones house and realised how scarred I am. I only have one active spot which is great but an oil slick nose and scars.

I’m just hoping it will improve more and more. It’s great to have no spots but I still feel so ugly :( thanks to everyone who commented on my last posts, your support has been a life saver. Literally. Nikki x

Hi Nikki,

Do your firends and family know how you’ve been feeling recently? It’s quite worrying to see you writing that this site “literally” helped save your life. Of course its great to be able to get support from people on here, but maybe you should talk to someone in person? Please keep your chin up, I’m sure everything will be fine. I know exactly what you’re going through!

Hi James, I very rarely see my family and due to having to constantly move I have very few friends close by. I am attending counselling for other reasons and my counsellor is aware of how I feel. I was actually a lot worse before taking roaccutane. Hopefully I will feel better soon.

Hi Nikki - glad to see the roaccutane is starting to take effect hun. My skin is also getting much clearer but now i am looking to improve scars too. I read somewhere the other day that it takes 6 months for red scarring to go so by the end of our course we should see most of them go. The deeper scars might take longer but i think i can live with them. When i was out the other day i noticed how many people bad skin - not spots but scarring lumps and bumps. in the past i have always been so obsessed over my own skin and felt everyone else had perfect flawless complexions - not so! i reckon by the time many of us finish the course we may have better skin than most! hah, sweet justice!
