Feeling quite down.

In fact I’m sitting here with tears running down my disgusting face. Didn’t exactly have a huge breakout but I now still have a couple of large painful ones and red marks to add to the countless red marks.

My skin seemed drier but I think its still a bit oily. Oilier than last week. Even my lips are less dry. Maybe Roaccutane has stopped working.

I look the same as always- ugly

it seems that we are at the same point! Don’t feel bad…this stuff takes time! I know mine is not amazing either but just keep your chin up! I very much doubt it has stopped working…it probably hasn’t started properly yet! Keep with it XX

Hi Nikki, you are not ugly. You have made a massive step towards clear skin by taking Roaccutane and as hard as it seems right please try and remain positive.

Week 4 is not that long in to your treatment, you’ve still got Roaccutane’s best bits to come – clear skin is just around the corner.

P.S a lot of people experience an initial breakout during the first few weeks into Roaccutane – it’s like your body is flushing all of your acne out of year system at once.

Yeh I definitely got worse when I first started taking it. I am nearly on week 5 now and not a lot is happening but I have faith that it will, we just have to be patient!!

The leaflet in my tablets says that roaccutane continues to work even after you stop taking them so I am just rying to look forward to that point.

Have faith and try and stay positive!! x

Hi Nikki - i read your diary this week and felt really upset. The thing is we are all so paranoid about our skin that we tend to over analyse our faces every bloody day. We have all sufferred (unfairly) with crappy skin for such a long time are we all so impatient for this so called amazing drug to show any sign of working. The thing i noticed from reading peoples diaries was that it has worked on some people after one week and others after 8 weeks. But it does always, eventually have an effect on everyone. I started the roac at a similar time to you and i have only just started to get the really dry skin today. I thought (wrongly) that i had it last week because there was a few pinhead size patches of flakiness and i was like yippee!! But then today i looked in the mirror and was like “shit - NOW thats flaky”. It might not even effect you in that way at all but it is in your system and it is proven to work in most people if you take it properly. Lets not lie, yes spots are ugly, they are absolutely shit and we all hate them with a passion BUT in a few short months they will be gone. YOU are not ugly - every person in the world contributes something to someone and that makes everyone beautiful (God that sounds gushy and a bit Jane Austin) but by June (ish) we should have much clearer skin. In the meantime i am going to the gym each day, eating healthily and gonna lose a pound (or 3). Im also learning spanish!!Come the summer im gonna be a fabulous senorita! Set yourself some of your own goals (it gives me something else to focus on other than the blimmin’ roac) and lets all do something that makes us feel fabulous and happy!!! Cheer up chicken, we all have shitty days but try and do something that makes you smile now xx
ps Roll on the summerrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!
