natya: First day…

October 23rd, 2009

Yesterday I got a call from my dermatologist saying there was a cancellation for an appointment. This has saved me a month of waiting.

My initial apt was for a mole check, so I had that done at the same time as discussing my skin. (I don’t have skin cancer! WOO!) I am using Implanon and have had no adverse side effects, yet two years into having the implant my skin and hormones had gone insane! This has left me with acne not only on my face but also all over my back.

Today the dermatologist prescribed me Roaccutane immediately. I’m on 30mg/day. The list of side effects is daunting so I’m just going to see how it goes. Wish me luck!

And good luck to you all too.

I’m the grand old age of 22 now. Adult acne is NOT a good look eh ;)

    Hi Natya!

Good luck with your course! I also had lots of acne on my back and it’s such a great feeling being able to wear strappy dresses again! Not everyone gets all side effects so try not to worry too much about them. You may be lucky and only have dry lips and drier skin. And even if you get the aches, rashes and dry eyes, they’re not the end of the world. It’s for a limited period of time and the results are worth it.

I’m 21 days away from my last pill and I can’t wait to finish, and yes it’s been tough, but I would do it again if my acne returned.
