Hi guys. Firstly sorry I’ve taken so long to put this on here, just haven’t been able to get internet access for a while.Well its all over now! Finished my course nearly 2 weeks ago now. I would say my skin is 75% better. Im very rarely getting any new spots, its just my face is still far from looking as great as I would like it to due to scars and redness. However despite it not being perfect Im already feeling so much more confident about myself.

Im already booked in for a follow up appointment halfway through April. Unless things continue to get better until then (which I was told should happen!) I would hope I will be put on another course, to hopefully clear up my skin for good! Anyway thats a long way off, it would be great if things did improve and that wasn’t necessary.

So I thought I would just share my experiences with the side-effects over the last 16 weeks:

Dry lips - very bad at times and you become very concious of how they look when you’re chatting to people. However the dryness has already stopped since I stopped taking the tablets. Nipple cream seemed to work far better on them than vaseline.

Dry Skin - Very bad on my forearms, back of my neck and chin. I found using aqueous cream helped to reduce the dryness

Depression - no, however I think the drugs did have an affect as I have had a lot of mood swings which is very unlike me. If I found the best way to cope if I was feeling a bit crappy was to go out and do something…my social life has got better over the past few months (its been hard not drinking though!) Or get down the gym - always makes you feel better!

Nose bleeds - really bad to in the first few weeks, I think I had 20 in the space of 6 days or something stupid like that! Have been shoving vaseline up my nostrils each night since and it has stopped them!

I cant say Ive had any probelms with any of the other side effects that have been mentioned, such as headaches, muscle aches etc.

Just want to say how great its been having a site like this to share stories while Ive been on roaccutane, its really helped! I’ll keep you informed as to how things go during the next couple of months. I hope everyone sees the improvements they hope for!
