Hi everyone,

Well, not that much to report for the last couple of weeks.  By week 5, my skin had recovered (leaving the red marks of course) from the horrible week 3 breakout.  Still got some spots throughout week 5 and 6 but not the same angry, painful types.  So skin has been in a manageable state which allows for covering up  with make up!  During week 5, I increased my dose from 10mg a day to 20mg a day.  I noticed my skin was slightly drier after a couple of days but just applied more moisturiser and seemed to do the trick.  I also noticed my hair getting drier - lots of conditioner has helped but it is not the same as before Roaccutane.  Although it has meant I don’t wash my hair everyday anymore.  The worst side effect is the dry lips which just want lip balm 24/7!   Oh, I did get a bit of a rash on my hand a few days after the dose increase but nothing major - didn’t really itch or hurt, just rough to the touch and not even that visible really.  Did notice I got ever so slightly burnt (well touch of colour should I say) after walking around for a couple of hours on an overcast day which I don’t think would have happened normally.  I burn easily but normally require some visible sun in the equation! (Did have SPF in my moisturiser too and was wearing makeup.)  But all in all, nothing serious on the side effect front.

However, what I am finding annoying now is the not drinking! Since giving up after my bad experiences in the first week, I have since only had one glass of wine.  I thought I would try it again in case my body had got used to the Roaccutane now.  I did feel crap the next day and had a big head/eye ache but I’m not sure to attribute this to the Roaccutane or the getting to bed at 5.30 am and therefore not getting enough sleep.  I think I need to do another experiment (ideally when I have nothing planned the next day!)

I have my next derm appointment in just over a week.  I think she will then increase my dose to 30mg per day.  I’m keeping my fingers crossed that this won’t induce a big breakout or intensified side effects.  However, I do have lots of white lumps under the skin on the chin area so I presume these have to come out somehow.  I’ve always had these.  I hope they don’t all turn into big monsters.  But it’s difficult because I do want them out at some point!  Discretely and one by one please if you’re listening, lumps!

Hope everyone is coping OK.

Hey,

I know exactly what you mean about the little whiteheads that turn into monsters! Mine are coming out slowly one by one..but I want them to all come out at the same time and be gone forever :(

That whole hand rash thing is weird isn’t it?! I had it the 1st time i took the drug and got it this time around when my derm increased my dosage - only on one hand though! but it’s gone now.

As for the drinking - i didnt drink at all on my first course but i have done this time around. I did have one time near the beginning of the course where i had a hang over for 4 days! but now im being a little more sensible and drinking less as i did get a bit scared about how my liver would be coping!
