kennygawne: END OF WEEK 2 , ON DIFFERIN, DALACIN T TOPICAL LOTION , TRIMETHOPRIM TABLETS TBH SKIN IS WORSE :(

August 7th, 2009

well the first two weeks have gone extreamlyyyyyyyyyyy slowwwwwww. The differin gave me an extreamly abd breakout and i went from having minimul acne to quite a few pimples on my face i was extreamly worried so i informed me derm, when things are not working you really wanna give it and you carnt see the treatment working. Well i spoke to me derm and he told me how this was completely normal as differin brings up anything under the surface of the skin so if there were spots which wernt cumin out well its brung them out also he told me how spots take 6-8 weeks to form and differin works by preenting them from forming so your not gonna see magnificiant results eraly on . But seriously first week my face was extreamly red i was only cumin out little spots with heads on ——- week two differin saw i slight improvement less red and skin irritation and 4 sum bizare reason this has NEVER happend before one side of my face like dramatically cleared up and the other side didnt haha ill never no the answer to that one. Ive been reading alot of reviews on the internet and many say the cream completely healed there acne :D so that gives me high expectations. Some of the reviews say differin is like a topical accutane :S:S im not too sure about that one. Another reason im on differin is for the red markssss it supposed to help as it sheds dead skin cells which is the main cause i thinkkk well just get rid of the spots first before i adress that matter. Ive been doing alot of reaserch lately and i read summit about if u have severe acne its something that was always going to happen but if you have mild acne that could of been prevnted by diet or pollution i do live in preston which is a city and surrounding areas burnley, blackburn, blackpool are very industrial.
I was also put on trimethoprim two pills a day this is not actually a listed acne treatment but the derm finds it extreamly effective if other treatments have failed. The dalacin T never never heard of it need to do a bit of reaserch i thinkk. Another problem im suffering from is depresiion its not normal i know my acne isnt even that bad otherwise the derm wud of gave me roaccutane but im still constantly on a downer i spend many hours asleep as it passes time quickly and im going to college in a few weeks so i need to sort it out otherwise its going to get in the way of my studies btw if your interested im studying public services to go in the fire services (so i think gettin my face burnt would be alot worse than a few pimples now) and im studying sport and hopefully im going to get a scholorship in the u.s.a as a football coach or soccer wtevea dey call itt. But i know depression is something im going to have to get help to but im too scared theyy will put me away in a mentel health unit or sum shit lol. Family are always having a goo at me sayin all i care about is the way i look and im a very shallow person so having lots of argumenets with them at the moment. Lasly i would just like to thank evryone on this site your all really supportive and full of grwat advice and im really happy when i go on your blogs and i see your skin dramatically improving i.e sparkly seriously your face is like nearly flawless now makes me smile just to see how good your skin is looking your all amazing on this site but ive gotta shout out my favourate person :D KIRI GALLAGHER SHES AMAZING and beautiful with acne or without acne shes soo nice and helpful shes made a signifcant difference in my life keep following her diaries peepz coz soon shes going to have flawless skin tooooo xxxxxx newais this weeks blog bin abit longer dan normal but im actuali bored out of my head so uno summit to keep me occupiedddd and that lools keeep posting the encouraging comments thanks guys xxx

    Hi Kenny,

If your derm says it takes 6-8 weeks for spots to form then I guess that’s the shortest you/we need to give any treatment. Good to know. Hope your skin improves soon!

Personally I think using too many treatments at once is a mistake especially topical ones because they can be very harsh, irritate your skin not combine together very well, and make your skin even worse….I’m not sure why these multiple topical lotion treatments are prescribed, surely if they were more effective then a combined topical treatment would be made? oh I don’t know!! It just seem to me that a simple skncare routine using mild products is much better for your skin than a load of harsh irritating products or lotions…. and then try prescribed treatments one by one, otherewise you will never know which one was working! sorry Kenny not getting at you, I understand that using more different things at once stastically increases the chances of sucess but…..mmm, its not surprising that your skin is initiallly not happy…

i asked the derm that and he said each one works for different reasons
    antibiotics kill the bacteria
differin helps reduce oil and gets rid of dead skin cells etc
but well jus see how the next few weeks go
if im not happy still ill go bac and see him
