Well, I was upped to 60mg a day, last week. And My spots are the worst ever. I’ve just realised that since I started isotretinoin, my spots have been worse. I’m struggling to keep faith, only because now, old spots have returned, previously they hadn’t which made me think that they were “dying”. I hope this is just another initial outbreak in response to the increase in dosage, and that from now one, I should only see improvement??? My lips have almost fully healed now from that week away, but I can’t stand to look in a mirror now, my face is red and shiny, and framed with new spots. I was never like this, a year ago I had none! I have also stopped popping, and am trying to drink more. I hope that with this new dosage, (now a week on) and trying to stick to a new routine of a little exercise, drinking more and not popping, that I must improve.
Please reply, as to what you were like at this stage.
Also, should I still use PanOxyl (Benzoyl Peroxide) on my face if I’m on Isotretinoin???
Please Reply.

Hey hang on in there. It really it worth the wait. I was on 60mg for 7 months and totally felt like you are now. It was hideous and at times I felt totally in despair of everything. It will get better I assure you.
In regards to Pan Oxyl.. sorry don’t know. I didn’t use anything else whilst on Roac…. was informed that Roac was strong enough (by far) on its own.
Good luck – keep positive (i know its hard) xxx

Hi there, Im sorry you are having a rough time of it, but you are only at the beginning if the course, so you are in the worse-before-it-gets-better phase
but the good news is that there is a better phase after all those icky spots have cleared.
I was advised not to use any other products on my skin except mild facewash and moisturiser because roacc will make your skin drier, thinner and more sensitive than usual, so carrying on with panoxyl may be asking more sore patches of skin than you really need to be dealing with. I got away quite luckily as far as initial breakouts went, probably because I was on antibiotics until the day before roacc started…
I know its frustrating and upsetting, but this really is the most effective, permanent way to cure your acne and I can vouch for the fact that IT WORKS!!! If your skin is not really getting dry, then try not to over-moisturise or use products which are too greasy because that wont really be helping.
keep us informed on how you are doing, keep it up, there is a light at the end of the tunnel

OooooOo sorry its going so bad for you.
Benzyl peroxide was what I was on for a year or so before my rounds of antibiotics. I think if your face is already quite sore then benzyl peroxide will just make things worse.
Benzyl Peroxide is quite harsh so for the time being being as gentle as possible is the best solution. Diluted tea tree oil is a good way to keep the spots minimal and cleanse your skin without being too harsh to it.
I hope it gets better for you.

Sorry to hear it’s hard at the moment. I seem to remember week 5 was quite tough for me too. It does get better though, I think I’m just on the cusp of it now, at week 13. Just hang in there, keep popping those pills, and keep moaning here! That’s what we’re here for!!
I also echo what the others have said, don’t use any benzoyl peroxide onyour skin. I only use water if I haven’t had any make up on, and otherwise a very mild cleanser and light moisturiser.
