A bit late on posting; soz. Me and my spots went to a festival this weekend, hence my delay.

Positives: the rash on my hands have cleared. End of positives.

I’m still very spotty. Another one of those times when I’m glad I’m dark skinned because the redness is less visible. Saying that, my whiteheads show up spectacularly :o(

Lips: dry.

Arms: dry and patchy.

Pores: large.

So that’s it. Getting a bit annoyed and impatient now. Had my final blood tests this morning. I pick up my final month’s prescription next week. I think I will be making that derm appointment like I said in my last post. I can’t imagine the magic taking place over the next week.

hi Joyce,
i’m also on week 11 of roaccutane and you are not alone!
My spots are still alot worse than before i went on the treatment.
i see some people leaving comments saynig they’re clear within 4-5 weeks and i think; why hasn’t this happened to me? my derm just tells me “no pain no gain”. I’m really beginning to wonder if it’s all worth it.Once again you are not alone,
Matt

I’m sorry to hear this Joyce. I’m only on Week 2 and had my first breakout this week which was horrible, but I can only imagine what you are going through is just disheartening.

However, if you read the little leaflet it says you wont actually see an improvement until Week 9 and if this doesn’t happen you’ll just have to stay it for the full 20Weeks. Maybe you’re just one of the unlucky ones Joyce.

Has your Doctor commented on it all?

Peace Out, keep your chin up!

JP,

Thanx, Matt and JP.

I’ve not spoken to my derm. I haven’t seen him since he started me on roac. He said that he only wants to see me at the end of the treatment if it hasn’t worked. If there is no improvement before I pick up my final month’s prescription (next week), then I’m going to make an appointment. I know derm appointments are hard to get, so I figure the earlier I make it the better.

Which leaflet are you referring to, JP? I’ve read the patient product information in the box and it says that a course of treatment lasts from 16-24 weeks. It doesn’t mention needing to take a 20 weeks course if there’s been no improvement by week 9. My course is 16-17 weeks. Maybe it could do with being extended, but maybe it maybe shorter because I’ve been on my maximum dose the whole time. The leaflet also says that the roacc can continue working up to 8 weeks after finishing the course.

Conclusion: I need to speak with my derm :os
