I picked up my final/fourth month of roaccutane half an hour ago. I had a brief chat with the pharmacist about how I am still getting spots. She agreed that I should make an appointment with my derm, as the treatment can be continued up to 6 months. As I was already in the hospital, it made sense for me to go directly to the dermatology dept to make an appointment. At the derm desk, I explained that the derm told me to make an appointment if the treatment doesn’t work and that I was also concerned that my blood had never been tested for fat levels. The receptionist opened my record on the puter only to find that I had been discharged. DISCHARGED!?! I’ve only had 1 appointment and I haven’t finished the course; how can I have been discharged? She tried to tell me that I’d need to go back to my doctor to get another referral. Luckily the woman sat next to her said that she doesn’t think I should have been discharged, not just because I hadn’t completed the treatment, but also because I was told to come back if it hadn’t worked. They asked me who my derm was and I told them. Turns out he’s retired now. I wonder if someone just wanted to clean up his books, so rather than transfer me to another doctor they discharged me instead. To be honest, I wasn’t surprised to hear that he’d retired either – he didn’t seem… bothered, I guess. Like this was all too much of a trial to him and he was just killing time (“These bloomin’ patients, coming into my office needing treatment!”). Anyway, the receptionist called the derm secretary; she’s looking into it and will call me back. Fingers crossed they sort it out.
I have seen some improvement compared to before I started treatment. Today I do have less spots and my face is less oily. But I want to have the skin I had in weeks 3 and 4 – that was great! I’ve decided to be brave and show you all what I mean. I’ve uploaded a picture of me showing a snap from weeks 0, 4 and 12.
