joannalx: Finally started Roaccutane!

June 24th, 2009

Well i went to the hospital/doctors on monday and i finally got prescribed Roaccutane! although im pretty scared about the side affects, if this cures my acne ill be over the moon! I wear TONS of make-up so this is going to be really hard for me!

Well,  i have to take in 30mg of roacc a day which is split into one 20mg tablet and a 10mg tablet and also i have to take 4 erythromycin tablets a day aswell, so all together i have to take 6 tablets each day!

me and my mum went to the shops after getting Roacc, to get Eucerin dry skin relief face cream, coco butter formula lip balm and also Blistex lip barm just to be prepared.

Ive not had any side affects in the past 3 days but i have noticed my redness and red marks from past spots fading! i had about 6 HUGE under the skin spots that only just formed yellow heads and now there nearly gone! But im deffinetly not getting my hopes up about this because my doctor saidi will have a breakout because my skin isnt use to all this, which is expected really. although im looking forward to the next few months, im also quite worried about the side affects, but i hope the results of my skin will outweigh the side affects!

Hey you two……I couldn’t help but notice your comments about there being lots of older people on here…this is largely becuase ten or more years ago roaccutane was not routinely used to treat moderate or mild acne regardless of how persistent it was….so we were all fobbed off with another course of antibiotics…its only recently that roacc has become so widely prescibed, so consider yourselves lucky….I wish I had been offered this treatment as a teenager!

ye well defo do that joanna x
do u get down and depressed about spots
i sometimes hide away from society dono if der summet wrong wid me
like i avoid going partes n dat
    but newais talking red marks
    i did some reaserch today
roaccutane as soon as your acne goes it should shed your skin quick and red marks should fade fast
and your skin continues to improve up t a year after coming off the treatment
if you still have red marks after that you can get a chemical peel from diz big posh clinic in london lools roaccuatane here and go on tess diary it shows her before and after pics and heres wer extreamly severe so that gives me real hope :D

i really do hope this works for you hun
hopefully ill have it soon aswelllxx
    if you go on
how long did it take to get you nhs appoitment ?
    and you got msn ?

yep i have, my face is becoming more of a normal tone instead of tomato red! and also my red marks seem to be fading, so far ive seen no new spots and its only my 1st week so im happy! haha but i expect to have a breakout because skin gets worse before it can get better , so im quite okay about that :) xxxxx
