Hi everyone! *waves*
It’s been two months since I took my last pill, and I have good news: It’s still working! I was afraid that my face would erupt as soon as I stopped taking Accutane, but everything still looks good.
In case you want to know what Life After the Pills might be like, this was [...]

Accutane often gets us down, and we all probably need a laugh, so I wanted to share this ad I found in a 1957 issue of Life magazine and scanned in at work the other day:
The text says, “Meet Jeanmarie Lussier and a group typical of her lively teen-age friends. She’s a budding artist, writer [...]

Hi, everyone!
For those of you who are just tuning in, I took 7,500 mg of Accutane over a five month period, and my scary skin cleared up like WHOA (yay!). I’ve been off of the pills for a month, and I’m happy to report that it only took two weeks for the side effects to [...]

Hi everyone!
I think I’ve described the iPledge program and the ridiculous things that American women must do to get Accutane. Every month we must have blood drawn for a pregnancy test and a liver test. After the results return, we have a few days to go online, log into the iPledge website, and take a [...]

I think my skin improved this week. These pictures probably don’t show it, but that’s just because last week’s pictures were poorly lit.
I had trouble getting my prescription filled this week, so I didn’t take any Accutane for 3 days in a row. For women in the US, getting crack is probably easier than getting [...]

No one talks about DATING while taking Accutane.
I met someone, we’ve been out together twice, and I like him quite a bit. Normally I’d feel self-conscious about my skin, but now I’m also embarrassed by my lips. *sigh* And it’s not like I can say, “Oh, don’t mind my flaking mouth, I’m just on Accutane.” [...]

This was the week I’d been waiting for. Last week I was sick, broken out, and feeling awful. This week I got better, and when I went back to work everyone said, “Wow! Your skin looks amazing!”
The cluster of icky whiteheads that popped up in week 5 left some red marks behind, and I still [...]

Week six was bad. The initial breakout continues, and the oily shine returned. I don’t think the pictures do the breakout justice. It’s much worse than you can tell from these photos! I feel sad and ugly and I just want to hide.
I’ve been sick for over a week with the flu and a sinus [...]

This week I began taking 30 mg of Sotret rather than 20 mg, and I broke out badly. I have six painful, tender spots on my left cheek and two on my forehead. This must be the initial breakout. Yuck! The blackheads on my nose are beginning to come out, which is good but kind [...]

It’s that time of the month, which means… A HUGE PAINFUL BREAKOUT! The week began with three embarrassing pustules just above my eyebrows, with one perfectly centered like an evil third eye. LOVELY. They quickly subsided and were replaced by pustules and small hormonal pimples on my jawline and neck.
But let’s look on the bright [...]
