Evening all, hope you’re all well.

Sorry I’m a little late with this one!

At the moment, the side effects are better than they were in my last post.  The back pain isn’t as bad except when I’m in the gym. So I’ve had to cut down on my back exercises a little but it’s ok for now. The scalp is pretty much fine now which is nice. I have had a bit of a breakout though, not massive but it did get me down a bit, especially after I felt like I was making me good progress.

One thing that I’ve noticed recently is I’m quite lazy and struggle to get anything done. Like if I’ve got stuff to do like tidy my flat and stuff, I’ll just lounge around in front of my computer. Don’t know whether it’s anything to do with the pills though! I thnk it’s partly cos none of my friends are around here!

I did go out with some of my colleagues last night though, and had just over 2 pints of pear Cider and a shot of Sambuca. I was pretty smashed off that but didn’t have any more (didn’t stay out too late though cos the place was naff). I was using it as a warm up for when I head back to Manchester for half of fresher’s week. I was originally gonna stay completely sober but I think I can manage a couple of drinks, I wasn’t particularly hungover or anything today, just have to be careful not to have too many I guess. It’s the only time I think I’m gonna really wanna drink, I feel like I can last till 25th November after that! I don’t like being sober on nighs out though…especialy when I know only a handful of people lol. Oh my lips are still dry (standard).

Anyhoo, not a whole lot else to report I guess. I’d say my skin is about as good as it’s been for a while. As I said, I’m heading back to Manchester on the 22nd September for a few days so it’d be nice if my uni friends noticed!

Think I’m gonna stop there!

Right, seriously, what is with the no drinking policy some people have? Does it effect the drug or your skin or what? Because my derm or doctor never mentioned it! And I don’t know if I even have the will power…haha.

Did you read the leaflet that your derm should have given you?

Roaccutane already puts stress on your liver, so drinking alot won’t do you any favours. Search for a people’s entries relating to alcohol and you’ll find out what the other side effects can be.

But if you wanna drink alot then go ahead!

I never got a leaflet! My derm sucks.

Really? That’s disgraceful. Did you not read the leaflet inside the box of tablets?

He’s not the best!

Yeah I did, the only things it said were ‘Roaccutane commonly increases blood fats….blah blah blah, tell your doctor if you’re an alcoholic’ and ‘Roaccutane may increase liver enzyme levels’. It didn’t actually say I shouldn’t drink. So there you go!

Haha ok. I’m reading mine now and it says: “In some patients taking Isotretinoin, levels of fat-like substances in the blood may increase. Because of this, it is best that you stop, or reduce the amount of alcoholic drinks you usually drink while you are on treatment”

So yeah I guess it says you don’t need to stop completely, but it doesn’t hurt to play it safe for a bit. Also, I get the impression that your drinking style isn’t exactly continental lol (no worries, neither is mine). Just try not to get totally smashed I guess!

(and when I said that’s disgraceful eariler I meant the derm, not you! Just in case there was confusion!)

Ohh I knew you meant the derm, no worries!

Yeah I was talking to Abi after I left that comment and she said the same thing. I can’t believe I never got this leaflet thing! He wasn’t much help, he just shone a light in my face and sent me on my way lol.

Ok so drinking in moderation…hmm, I’m sure I can try that haha!

lol yeah. It isn’t that bad. Also, because I get drunk easier now, it’s actually not as bad as it sounds. You can still have not many drinks but enough to have loosened up a bit. I mean, I set dance floors alight when I’m sober anyway but get a few drinks in me and I’m something else entirely!!

As I said, I’m heading back to uni for part of fresher’s week, and Im unbelievably excited about that. Apart from that week I’m gonna try and maintain low alcohol consumption. Plus I live on my own so there’s no real incentive to drink as much lol.

How old are you by the way? Don’t take that the wrong way!!

Oh really, you get drunk easier? Is that as a result of the roacc?! Amazing, I could save some money aswell lol love it.

Yeah I don’t drink every night or anything and I can’t even afford to go out every weekend (I’m a pauper!) so it’s the occasionally beverage session to make up for the time inbetween haha. I hope you have fun to the max at freshers :D

I’m 18! And how old are you?

#10 AJ says...

Yeah but I’m not sure if it’s because I’ve stopped drinking as frequently. The tablets could have something to do with it…I was never much of a heavyweight anyway lol. But yeah, cheap nights could be on the cards!

18…so you’re a binge drinker basically! Just be careful lol.

Hey not neccessarily! Haha. I will be careful though now that I know. By the way, do you have a scanner? Since I never got this infamous leaflet that everyone else seems to have I wondered if you could scan it and send it to me? No pressure though :D
