Posted in Roaccutane Diaries

no change this week.  the boil i was growing at the side of my nose went away suddenly to be replaced by its twin about a centimetre away.   i dabbed it with toothpaste before bed (a trick that all my friends swear by but had never worked for me ever) and by morning the swelling had gone down and it was less red.  i felt indescribably pleased that something simple like that finally worked on me.  so i went out that night for the first time since starting the roac.  i only had 3 drinks over several hours (and i was all sensible and mature and alternated with soft drinks and even had food) but i felt like i’d drunk a helluva lot more so i’m going back to my original plan of abstinence. i think…

i experimented with not using moisturiser for a couple of days this week to see if that would make a difference to my blackhead ridden face and body after reading on here that some derms advise against moisturising.  the only change was that several areas of my face and shoulders are now peeling so i gave that up.

oh, and i found a cheap leave-in conditioner and my hair isn’t like straw anymore so i’m back to being really chuffed about washing it every 4 days!

so that’s it for now.  i’m feeling pretty good so far, apart from the blackheads (it’s every pore in my body from the chest up!).  hope you are all doing well too.

Hi enigma
I enjoyed that…it made me smile. My conjoined twins between my eyebrows are about to be joined by a new baby boil…oh joy! My derm said moisturise morning, day and night…Ive got bumpy skin at the moment but not really blackheads …unless they are lurking underneath the bumps and are waiting to breakout…aaaaarrrrrggggghhhhh!! As for alcohol Im still having the odd glass of wine or two but it definately goes straight to my head so I have drastically cut down the amount and the frequency! Good luck x

hello again mandy,
cheers!
i haven’t cleaned my bathroom mirror for weeks now. it’s nicely coated with dust and hairspray which makes it easier to avoid eye contact with the blackheads, the remnants of The Boil and any lumps i’m tempted to squeeze just a little. the crow’s feet look better that way too. : )
the alcohol tolerance thing is plain embarrassing. and the headache the next morning - lordy!
hope your boil family is now complete and they go off on holiday soon.

Ha ha you make me laugh…it’s good to have someone that can see the funny side …hubby said its a shame he’s not dating me anymore because id be such a cheap date… two glasses and im on planet la la!! Anyway loved the line about us being the crysalis before the butterfly emerges.
By the way my new boil family will probably invite their aunts, uncles, cousins, second cousins twice removed etc before they’ve finished with me ….they seem to have settled in and are flourishing!!! So until further notice im going to take your top tip and hairspray the dust to all the mirrors in the house..mmmmm…nice one. x
