Posted in Roaccutane Diaries

Today is my first day taking the drug.

I was very worried when i first read the side effects of the drug but to be honest with acne i have 0% confidence with girls or talking to most people in general.

Got my blood test on monday and went to see my dermotologist yesterday and got the all clear so im ready to start the journey of roaccutane and intend on keeping a full diary from week to week.

I will be taking pictures of my face to let you see the poor condition of my skin and will hopefully be posting more pictures to show results when it all ends.

My dermotologist has prescribed me Steroids for the first month to reduce the flare up of the first month on the roaccutane.

so this is my medication as follows sadly:

Prednisolone Enteric (Steroids) : 4 x 5mg daily after breakfast

Isotretinoin 5mg capsules : 2 x 5mg capsule daily after dinner

Isotretinoin 20mg capsules : 1 x 20mg capsule daily after dinner

So im only taking 30mg at the moment and hopefully will see results in the coming months.

One question is what factor sun cream do you recomend for me while on the drug? i have a factor 50 i beleive in the cupboard but just want to check if thats ok. I play alot of football aswell so will i be affected playing in the sun if i use the cream?

Thanks, any advice is greatly appreciated :D:D

Heya Max,

Factor 50 is good, as you will most likely burn. 30mg is a relatively low dose to start on. You derm will probably increase it in line with your weight later on (1mg per kg of weight).

Welcome to the beginning of the end of your skin troubles!

Good Luck :-)

Hi Max, I used factor 40 on body, factor 50 on face on holiday and still managed to get a little bit burnt where the cream rubbed off. Don’t get burnt because it blisters and leaves pink marks.

Dont use soap and water. Use some “Simple” face wash or sannex. Im currently trying Cetaphil, it specifically mentions its for use with dry skin.
