Hi guys

I’m just coming to the end of the fifth week of my daily vitamin A overdose and things are so-so.  After making some good progress in week 4, things have sort of regressed.  I imagine that is natural though - I wouldn’t expect to see constant and sustained improvement for another month and a half (jeez, thats a long time).

My skin does feel smoother when I wash it, and the blackheads on my nose (which have been there for about 4 years) have now disappeared, which is remarkable.  Unfortunately I wasn’t worried about my nose - its the rest of the face I wanted improving! But good things come to those who wait.  I am still getting at least 2 whiteheads a day, which is really irritating me, but these tend to dry up within two days or so.  I just wish they wouldn’t be there at all!! Also any marks and scarring I have have not faded much if at all in the 5 weeks I’ve been on the drug, and I’m wondering if there is anything anyone can recommend?  Vitamin E cream etc ??  Does anyone have any suggestions?  Much appreciated.

Side effects - same old same old.  Achy, dry lips (although Blistex and Carmex do an amazing job there), and dry skin just underneath my mouth.  I also seem to be developing some little dry red spots on the back of my hand - is this the rash everyone goes on about?

Seeing my Derm on Monday and I have a feeling he will increase the dosage.  Not too worried about that if it means it works at a faster rate!  Short term side effects I can live with, acne I simply can’t any more - especially when I’m starting uni soon.

Anyway, thats it for this week.  Hope everyone else is going well

A

Hi.

No problem for the post Anna - thats what the site is for. I think the level of roac depends on severity and weight. Personally I’m on 30mg, but thats only because I begged my Derm to put me on a low dosage because I was afraid of the side effects. I now wished I had jumped in at the deep end.

Yeah, I think I will start to moisturise the rash - E45 cream is supposed to be the stuff.

Thanks for your comments guys, really appreciate it.
