SR: Acne returns over a year later

October 2nd, 2009

Hi All.  I had acne for 10 years, I’m now 22, and I took Roaccutane for 9 months about 2 years ago.  For just under a year my skin was completely clear – my confidence increased, I got a boyfriend, I did well at uni…felt like a differant person.

Now its returned, and getting worse.  All of the points made above have gone.  I feel like my life is going backwards.  I try to eat healthy and excersize, but I think that only makes a big difference in the long term.  I’ve stopped excersizing for about 6 months now – and its returned.

I am going to see my dermatologist about the topical form of Roaccutane.  I know it doesn’t cure acne but I want to get rid of it for confidence reasons!  I am going to try some herbal treatments too – as they are more likely to “cure” acne in the long term rather than Roaccutane in the short term, for me anyway.

Just wanted to share my story with anyone who want to read it.

Have you thought about going back on it, I read an article that said it can be successful if taken in a smaller dose over a longer period of time, you have less side effects too, just a thought. Hope the derm app goes well.

    Hey,

A friend of mine is in a similar position to yours. She took the Roacctane probably a year ago, but the acne came back a few months later. She’s back on it again. But her dermo said that this can happen and second course usually clears it totally. Good luck with whatever you decide xxx
