Hi Holly,
I’ts good that you have been thinking about the side effects in making your decision to go on to roaccutane. There are ways of dealing with the side effects such as moisturiser for lips (eg blistex, vaseline), moisturiser for skin (eg e45, doublebase). The muscle ache that people sometimes get can be reduced by less excercise. Also remember your dermatologist will monitor your general health and wellbeing by monthly blood tests and appointments.
My advice to you would be wait for the results of your blood test. If everything’s ok and your dermatologist is happy to put you on the drug, I would go on it. If you’ve got any questions, ask your dermatologist (or if you need any support ask us!). If you’re going to go on it do buy some products to help deal with the side effects (I mentioned a few above).
Also I just want to point out that people are hit with to many adverts that say things like ‘get acne free in 3 days!’. Obviously this is nonsense, but it gives people the impression that there is a quick fix and results will appear immediately. You will be on roaccutane for about 4-6 months, which seems a long time, but you will probably be completely clear of acne afterwards (see tess’s diary for pictures before and after).

Hope that helps!
