Hi all,

Hope everyone is doing well.

So, life on Roaccutane (60mg) has been pretty uneventful so far, im in the first week have had no obvious s/e as yet. No drying of my skin, it actually feels more supple!! but i was using retin a before hand which has probably dried my skin out so im not suprised it’s loving the moisturizer. Its such a nice feeling knowing you can put lotion on and that your not going to breakout the next day. My pores look tiny which is really great, so my skin around my nose and cheeks look smooth. I had 4 woppers on my forehead and my cheek which looked looovely as they came to a head pretty quick and just hung around for a few days as they do…that was until i washed my face and they just came out when i put pressure on them, it was quite gross actually…they are going really fast now though. Ive had no other spots as yet, im still waiting for my Initial breakout unless that was it???

Had a headache for the first couple of days which i was expecting, the corners of my lips have started to dry now so im attacking it with blistex, vaseline etc. My lips havent been dry really, they started to get a bit chapped but that seems to have subsided now and they are fine. I have been obssesivley looking at every strand of hair that i find - so far i havent noticed any change, i really hope it stays that way **Touch wood** did have a really itchy scalp yesterday but that has calmed. I was seriously thinking about stopping the treatment as i got myself in such a tizz over the hair loss side effects - im still unsure tbh so im going to see my derm tomorrow.

For anyone that wants to know the products that i have found a great help are:

*FACE: Dermalogica Intensive Repair cream for Severley dry / Prematurely Aging Skin -Its GREAT, i LOVE it. Very nourishing and sensitive.
Creme de la mer Eye concentrate - hydrating and nourishing.
Skinceuticals 35spf // La Roche Posay 50+ sun screens, was recommended by someone on here (sorry i have the memory of a goldfish) really good quality sun screen bought it @ www.skinxpert.com
* BODY - Eurecrin 10% urea lotion - good stuff but smells bad, Nivea Rich Body for dry skin. Aquerous and cetamacgragol cream from the docs.
Aveeno Body Oil for shower or E45 bath emollient - softens skin.
* LIPS - Vaseline, Blisex lip splash / moisture /healing are v good. MAC lip conditioner, Carmex, Burts bees ( i serioulsy have all of these.cant say i’m not prepared!)

Jesus! look how much i have rambled on. Will update as i go on along.

Good Luck to everyone!

Hey Kelly, glad to be of help!! :)

Really? i heard you can lose weight (one of the Very few side effects i wouldnt mind having!) to be honest i dont know what you can get or can’t get anymore so i think i’ll just listen to my body.

A few Supplements that im taking that will *hopefully* help with any potential hair loss is…Biotin (2tabs daily) Maxi Hair supplement with B vits and all that good stuff to help growth, Lots of Omega’s like hemp seed oil, fish oil, flax and i have two protein shakes a day… yes, i am a freak lol. ah well makes me feel better!

Good Luck xx

hey there becky and kelly

i had read on here that you should not take anything with fish oils in as it is high in Vitamin A and Roaccutane is a very high doseage of this so you should be avoiding anything with this in also.
you might need to check the box on your supplements.
also the weight loss thing depends on the person i think, spose it depends on how ill they make you feel as to whether u dont eat so much, my weight has stayed normal on the course really and i am into the fourth month now.

dryness will get worse as your course goes on, you will notice a big change about 5-6 weeks i would think.

the hair loss thing is down to the dryness of your hair, i would say mine has gone a bit thinner because it is breaking off easier due to the tablets making it a lot drier than normal, but it isnt actually falling out, so you see bitty sticky up hairs when you dry it but i know these will grow back fine when the course has finished.

keep focused on the end results and put up with the side effects and you should be fine.
