Hello chaps

I’ve now reached one month of being on Roaccutane and am so please with the results, I have had a minor breakout, but nothing like I envisged (probably because I’m on Dianette as well)! Anyway I also have spots on my back and although they aren’t awful, they are bad enough to make me cover my back constantly! I’m a bridesmaid in 4 weeks and my dress is strapless…nightmare! I was wondering when I am likely to see an improvement as my face is drying up nicely and my back hasn’t changed much (may have to by an emergency pashmina!). Anyone been in the same situation, I’m on 40mg…

Cheers x

Hiya Marty,

When I first took Roaccutane 3 1/2 years ago my back was the first area to clear up and it has stayed that way ever since, so hopefully you will notice improvements in that area soon :-)

Hi Marty,
My daughter Jessie (now 13 and been on Roac for about a month now) was a bridesmaid about this time last year. She was really worried about her dress and her problematic back and shoulders so I can really sympathise with you. Like I say she’s been on 30mg for about a month and today she wore a vest top in public (well, just outside in our cul-de-sac) for the first time in a very, very long time! Her back and shoulders aren’t clear by any means but her skin in these areas has calmed down enough to give her the confidence to not have to cover them up. Hopefully, as the wedding is still a few weeks away you should be OK - I think it’s surprising to see how much happier Jessie is with her skin just ‘less angry’ even though obviously we long for it to be clear!
Anyway, also just wanted to mention that last year we absolutely begged the doctor to help her out before her bridesmaid duty and a week before he agreed to prescribe quite a strong steroid cream for a few days. Within a couple of days it was good enough to get her through the day and the photos and feel OK (she needed to wear her hair down to cover some of the stubborn areas but she may have only been allowed to apply for a few days due to her age).
We really hope you start to see an improvement soon and have a lovely day being a bridesmaid!

Take care,
Claire.
