hey guys

Week 6 continued much in the same vein as last week was really stressful and induced probably a stress-like breakout but it got me really down especially at the start of the week so much so I was feeling completely blue my boyf was quite worried. I probably made my mood worse because I had previous picked some spots hopinig to get the rubbish out and R to dry it up and clear it… alas that didnt work and I can definitely say as horrible as whiteheads etc are you must not squeeze them!!!! I made some hang around my face longer than they would’ve and probably spread the infection - nightmare. :(

Thankfully I learnt my lesson the hard way and the rest of the week have not touched any which is real confidence sapper!! oh well I have seen them clear up a lot faster since.

My side-effects this week have felt the full force of my increased dose, dry lips are by far the worst and even the nipple cream isnt helping I have to literally apply every 1/2 an hour to keep them content! lol. Got some dry patches and am zapping them with some moisturiser. My hair has lost all of its ompf too - am I complaining about loosing my frizz?? well yes coz its all limp but only takes 15 mins to straighten now.

After all the faff with my derm I actually spoke to my actual one a last week and I asked about moisturiser as I was feeling confused about applying it and he confirmed that it doesnt effect the treatment. I also got some unofficial advice from another derm who said moisturise but shop around for one that suits and is effective for your skin.

On one of my earlier posts Andy recommended some Avene skin recovery cream and I managed to get some little samples at Boots (worth investigating as the tube costs 12 quid) and have been using it and it is fab, no redness or stinging and the brand itself is recommended for people experiencing dryness through taking medication.

So yes where is my miracle although tbh do I really expect it at week 7?? probably not but I wanted some positive things to latch onto and hope for.

Hope next week is better.  Take care :)

Andrea. x

Hey Andrea,
Glad the moisturiser is good!.. it’s the only one which doesn’t sting for me. My derms seems to think the turning point is just after half-way in your treatment! I’m in week 12 now, and my skin is in pretty good condition, but it’s taken 11 weeks at a high dosage (70mg/day). Also week 5/6 seems to be a breakout point for many people.

So fingers crossed for a good week 7! Andy x
