This week my face resumed to being as oliy as it was before I started roaccutane, and I’ve been having a bad breakout, which seems likely to get even worse. There were three small but pus filled pimples, two large but under-the-surface ones, and a HUGE one by my temple in a place where I always seem to get big pimples every few months, for some reason. [Why do spots recur like that??] I’m trying my hardest not to pick though, because the old marks on my face have faded and i don’t want to encourage fresh ones.

As usual these new spots are concentrated on the right side of my face [only one small one is on the left], and I’m wondering whether the fact that I mostly sleep on that side of my face has anything to do with it… Has anyone else noticed this??

After I washed my face this morning I noticed some new little spots, so it looks like week 5’s breakout will continue right into week 6. After my face dried I also realised that my nose is slightly flaking, despite the renewed oiliness of my skin. Sigh.

As for my back and arms, they’ve been uneventful this week, I just wish the dark marks there would fade as quickly as the ones on my face did. Do any of you know whether it’s advisable to use a fading cream or something to speed that up?

There is one new side effect to add to my dry lips and unusual, annoying lethargy- I’m having some joint pain in my knees everytime bend them or try to stoop down etc.

So, that concludes my week 5. I’m hoping week 6 brings a cheerier report 0_o…. I was supposed to be seeing someone about a job this week, but I really don’t have the courage to ‘face’ them looking like this.. lol. Hopefully in week 6………….

my derm said that acne can be worse on the side that you sleep - he didnt say why this happens though. My left side is worse on me and i tend to sleep on this side more

Ah I see, Becky…
Last night I slept on my left side, but now I’m wondering if I shouldn’t just be glad it’s only on one side instead of trying to ‘even things up’ and end up with my whole face covered… lol

hi Im knew to this, I have also experienced this, Im pretty sure its is healthy for your skin to breathe thats why its important to sleep with no make up on. Also Being a driver in the car the sun irritates the side of the face from being on the window side, a laser treatment specialist once told me this… hope this helps
