hey you guys

umm. earlier this week i noticed that my lips were a little bruised when i was putting on my first morning set of chapstick. i usually have to spend about 5 mins removing the old layer from the night before by scratching it gently off with my nail, this is something i’ve been doing even before roaccutane becuz i’ve always had dry lips. so i found it strange when for the first time in 14 weeks of treatment i noticed that there was some redness in different small patches when i was done, and that my lips seemed plumper than normal. i didn’t exactly brush it off as unimportant, but when i put on the chapstick and left home the redness faded so i wasn’t too worried.

if any of you read my week 13 post, u’ll know i was upset becuz my friends had been commenting about how red my lips looked. so i went into town on thursday morning to find a something or other to help fix the problem. i ended up with a M.A.C Tinted Lip Conditioner SPF 15, which didn’t do much to actually reduce the redness but made it look more like it was supposed to be a nice sheen, and it was moisturizing without being white like chapstick so i thought i had a winner.

however one day later, today, my lips are definately swollen, not pleasantly plump, and later they also developed these tiny little bumps all over, that look kind of like water bumps.

i need to know if this is normal considering that i’m so far along in my course, or if it’s just an allergic reaction in my case. i’ve discontinued use of the product, and just have my lips plastered with vaseline at the moment because they feel so sore i’m afraid they might split.

has anyone else experienced ANYTHING AT ALL like this??? :( :( :(

before the M.A.C, i was using a palmer’s coacoa butter chapstick all throughout my treatment, the only problem with it was the white residue it left on my lips, like any other chapstick.

i went to my derm this morning to pick up another month’s worth of meds, and the visit was great, he said i’m progressing really well and we had a very nice chat. and now this. of course i’m going to speed over there as soon as his office opens tomorrow morning, but it would be great to hear if any of you guys have had a similar experience. i’ve taken pics but i don’t think i’ll post them, i’ll wait to see if things get better or worse over the next few hours.

looking forward to ur responses, hope you guys all have reasons to smile this week. i’m not going to be smiling anytime soon, don’t want my lips to crack with the happiness… lol :(

I had a very similar experience last year. I got these tiny little scaly bumps on my lips. They weren’t anything like blisters though. I started applying lip balm all day long so my lips didn’t dry up and soon developing a raised dry, red area spreading about half an inch below my lower lip. The doctors gave me steroids to make it go away but no real answers. The steroids did help actually, but about one week later I broke out in hives all over. They tested me for a few things and never found an actual allergy. My lips are now starting to get very red and dry again and I’m wondering if it is an allergy of somekind.
