Hi
I’m 32 and about to begin my Roaccutane treatment. I’m a little worried about all these side effects and wondered if anyone could put my mind at rest. I’m not sure if the side effects are limited to younger people…Has anyone suffered from depression? My acne is not that bad and the doc said I shouldn’t be on it too long. Is there anyone that is in a similar position to me that could offer me some advice

Hi,
I’m 31 with moderate acne and I’m on 80mg a day for 4 months (in month 3), so I think I’m in a similar position to you. The side-effects are not limited to ‘young’ people - personally, I think I am young! :op I have had a couple of periods of depression, lasting 1-3 days, but nothing I haven’t been able to cope with.

Hi Kitty,

I wouldn’t worry too much about the depression side effect. I think it’s tough being on the drug for some people because at first it can make acne so much wors: This may be what causes the ‘depression’. I have told close friends and family that i’m on Roacc as I think social support is the key to making it through the sad days!

Hope it goes well for you! Andy x
