My arm rash has really been bugging me recently, it feels really hot and uncomfortable, especially when my clothes rub on it. It seems to be getting worse and worse even though i’m now only taking a tiny dose of roaccutane! All the creams iv tried just really sting and aggravate it more!

I think we should all take pictures of our arm rashes so we can compare!
Oh, and if anyone has had a rash like this and managed to clear it up, please tell me what cream you used!

Hey Abi, i have something that looks pretty similar to that on my hands! Started last week and was really dry and rough. Mine got really agrevated when i tried creams and stung but ive been using e45 cream which someone suggested to me. Iv been applying it loads, every few hours near enough and after washing hands and defifenatly clearing up now. Im on week 5 now and it started on week 4. The rash on my hand was obviously smaller than yours but may be worth a try?
atDont know if thats of any use though lol

Hi
What are you doing with a picture of my arm???
It is grim and my hands get it too, then it all goes dry and I leave ’snow’ all over the place!
I use Boot expert range, v. cheap, works well and no stinging, E45 stings so much I cannot use it!

Hello Hannah and Jane!
Thanks for your advice! I know what you mean about the “snow” Jane, whenever I take off a jacket or jumper, bits of dead skin just fly all over the place! I’m gonna have a look at the boots expert stuff as I use their face cream and love it.

i developed a one hand rash this week. been slapping on e45 in the day and a coating of sudocrem at night. roac has mande me a devotee of both these products. i don’t know which has worked or if it’s the combination but after 4 days the rash has faded, isn’t all sensitive and itchy and beginning to look normal again.

Hiya,
I get this rash on my hands and use aqueous cream which i get from Boots, its just a basic liquid paraffin cream. I use it a couple of times a day and it clears up really quickly, maybe in a day or so. Only comes back when i forget to use it for 3/4 days.

Hi Abi,
I finished my course a few months ago. (Havent had a spot since
) and got that rash constantly throughout my course on my arms and neck. The doctor gave me about 15 samples of creams to try but i had an allergy to every one which as you can imagine made the rash a million times worse lol. Eventually the doctor prescribed a fantastic cream which can be bought very cheap in any chemist. Its called aqueous cream. Chemists have their own brands and everything. Its basically just a very sensitive nappy rash cream but it works perfect. Pop in your chemist and get a tub. Should help your rash in no time x

Argh, I feel your pain. My rash looks just like this. It comes and goes but often stings and I can’t bear to wear anything with long sleeves as it feels like I’ve been nettled.
It gets particularly worse when I’m at work as I have to wash my hands before and after every patient (I work in A&E, so this means every few minutes). The rash goes red and angry looking and burns like billy-o. Matches my face, actually, which also is usually a lovely shade of flushed cherry! I have had more than a few comments, and it’s so embarrassing, I feel like people are thinking “Hmm, not sure I want her to treat me!”
atOnce made the mistake of giving in and giving my hands and arms a right good scratch and it ended up looking like I’d been self-harming…eek!!
The only useful thing I’ve found is Diprobase which is essentially a really oily version of Vaseline. Not sure if it is readily available outside hospital but I use Vaseline at home when it flares. Not pleasant, not attractive but soothing!
Best of luck.

Hurrah for our arm rash club!! LOL! Mine looks exactly like yours Abi, mostly on my hands and elbows. Bumblelou i sympathize, i work in dentistry and alcohol rub in between patients stings like a bitch!
However, my rash comes and goes, sometimes its sore then it just calms down and turns into rough, flaky skin. Avene TriXera Emolient cream (from Boots – white tube, pink writing) has been my all round life saver!
I don’t mind my arm rash, means the drugs are working

Hiya Chloe!
Ur right, if we didn’t get arm rashes and dry lips we’d be worried the roaccutane wasn’t doing anything!

Hi ever1,
I have also developed the hand rash just around hand near the thumd side. It seemed to develop around week 3. I had been putting E45 on it which helped mostly for the dryness and itching but still had red patch
I went to the derm yesterday and she said she would perscribe me a steriod cream, she said just to have it for when it was at its worst. I got something called Eumovate ointment which I used yesterday. Let me tell u it worked a treat. Not itchy and the redness has faded to a point u would not even notice it. So if nothing is working for u mayb ask next u see derm as it might help. xxx

Has anyone tried Aveeno anti-itch cream? When I got the rash on my hand, it was the only thing that helped.

Wow! im not the only one!
atHope your rashes & patches are on the mend!
Ive tryed loadsa creams to! aqueous cream seems to make me sting when im red & sore & makes it even worse!
I have found how ever that E 45 & Vasaline are great!
My bloke thought i was a right freak when he woke up one morning to me sleeping with cotton gloves on!!! he said theyr my michel jackson gloves! But slathering tons of vasaline on before bed is the only thing that seems to help!

I thought my arm rash was due to drinking alcohol (I’m on steroids too which I thought would bring out a rash with alcohol) but now I see other have got it! The best thing for me is FCUK Pure and Polished moisturiser, or Suda Crem. Suda Crem reduces the redness well, I suggest using it overnight on any spots aswell on your face/back etc.

hey!
my rash looks just the same as yours does and at first i thought it was just because the chlorine irritates it (i swim about 14 hours a week) but i had a week off as i was on holiday and it didnt seem to make a difference. i used hydrocortisone cream which cleared it up more than anything else but as its steroid-based im a bit hesitant to use it too much..
also, the skin on my arms is really rough even where there isnt a rash, does anyone else get this?

Hey! I’m on wk 7, and I have exactly the same rash. However, I’ve found that the best thing (as long as you don’t mind application about 2-3 times a day) is the Bodyshop’s Aloe Body lotion for Sensitive skin. E45 was ok, but I hated putting clothes over it, as it’s so sticky! This has a nice tingly cooling feel to it as you apply, and sinks in fast. It’s also in a handy pump bottle! It’s a little pricey, but I’m really liking it, and it’s rather appealing to apply. Plus, I don’t ’snow’ so much any more after taking off a jumper! Woo hoo!
Aqueous cream is good if you’re v.v.v. sensitive, but my derm recommended (in severe irritation cases) Emulsifying Emollient BP, which is almost waxy in texture so it lasts even over washing, has no preservatives (which is normally what causes the stinging) and is also multi-functional…I use it as a lipbalm, and its the best ever! Don’t buy it from a private clinic, though- they charge so much for, essentially, wax!!

hey, i have the solution for ya,
atmy hands came out like that and im not on a big dose either. i have a tub of emulsifying ointment……excellent stuff. its a little bit greasy but put it on your arms before you go to bed and you will see a definite improvement. i had a rash similar to yours on my hands and to make matters worse, im a nurse and im constantly washing my hands in hospital. it was awful and now its basically cleared up. the derm gave me cream but i didnt find it as good as the emulsifying ointment. its only 6 quid in the chemist, and it is so pure it is great for sensitive skin. good luck
