abi: Abi’s Third Course – 6 & a half months in

November 20th, 2008

Thought id give a quick update. Basically, I havn’t had any serious spots for about 3 and a half months, which i think is pretty good going ! However, im so petrified of coming off the roacc incase i relapse again. I’ve got about fifteen 20mg capsules left and then I have about sixty of the 5mg capsules, therefore, when i have finished the 20mg capsules (taking one a day) i’m going to take 5mg a day and see how I get on with it, meaning my course is going to be drawn out for a very very long time! I could easily take more mg’s a day and get my course over quickly, but id actually rather take it for longer as I feel more “in control” of my skin.

Anyway, havn’t got alot else to say! Hope you are all doing okay

Hi Abi, it’s been a while since I’ve been here but after reading this post just thought I would let you know I am now on a prolonged maintenance type course not just to keep my skin under control but also for my own peace of mind and quality of life as I worry less when I’m taking ‘tane so I understand where you’re coming from here x

    Hiya Jay :-) ,

When I first got prescribed roaccutane i assumed I would only ever need to take once course but i know now that it is actually quite common to have to take multiple courses.

I thought after my second course id got it sorted but then only a few months on they started to come back, it’s so disheartening after you’ve been through 4 months of dry skin/lips and muscle aches and then you’re skin only stays clear for a few months. I’m so worried that if my skin gets bad again after this course that my derm won’t allow me to take it again. I guess id just have to find myself a new derm lol.

How long does your skin normally stay clear after you have had a course??

Hey again Abi, yeh me to i thought that would be it.. more fool me lol. Anyway for me it only took about three months for them to come back:( which as you can imagine made me really unhappy but i don’t want anyone else to think that that will definatly happen to them. I take it you’ve read my main comment or maybe not, because at the minute i’m at that stage where my acne has come back.
Really hope it doesn’t come back for u. Try not to worry, easier said than done i know x
